Practice Bid
There will be two practice bids; Friday, April 6th and Wednesday, April 13th.

I think their dates are off somewhat. Today is Wednesday, 1 April. That would make 2 days from now the 3rd, right? the next 2 Wednesdays would be the 8th and 15th. I'm guessing we'll see a corrected FCIF shortly...

The top 727 CA's I think are pretty much set in their ways. They have had numerous oppurtunities to leave the seat and have never done so, not even in practice bids. The F/O's are might be a different story.

How many of those holding 757 FO can hold 757 CA or MD11/Airbus CA? I'm thinking 5 or so.

122 minus the 5 (or less) who bid to relieve plus the 7 minus ones from other seats = how many are being flushed down into the SO seat.

So about 125 going to 727 SO.

How many SOs are we going to need when flying is reduced? That will give us a good idea of who is immediately at risk.

You're probably right about that. The only thing that might push a few of them off is that with lower BLG's, they might not have a shot at maxing out their High 5 unless they make the jump to a W/B. As a 60% guy on the Airbus in MEM, I'm expecting to slide backwards atleast a few percentage points.

I think they are worried about the FOs that can hold 727 Capt... You know they have already run the numbers... The minus 1s wouldn't be there without a Master Plan... Things just keep getting uglier!

Default Vacancy vs Excess

Because this isn't a vacancy bid, but an excess bid. 70 727 Captains can't move... only the one captain in excess.

Now, I haven't looked at the numbers, but if some of the senior 757 FOs bid to relieve the excess, and moved to 727 Capt, then the extra 727 Captains are now in excess and they could go to the WB.

I just don't see that happening, though.

I think the 727 CAs that wanted to move did in the last excess bid.

So...some of the excessed 122 + F/O's will be heading to HKG...some will be denied an FDA slot (can't create an excess). Is this the same situation as the Capt’s were in before? What did the LOA's, that magically showed up and got signed, actually do?...how does this "virtual" training letter work?

I think this is going to get ugly. Now all the capt's that can play are the 75's and now all the FO's will get a chance to bump into a capt seat if they can hold it....and those super senior SO's are still stuck not playing. Maybe they should have just had one big flush, like last year!

I have a feeling, the 72 FO's are going to go for the money grab, and those of us close to the bottom are going back to the slave ship.

Good luck, and at some point, I am sure I'll be in training in Memphis

No, there's a "-1" on the WB CA seats too.

At the close, it won't create an overmanning in WB CA seats (...in fact, the total # will decrease by one), but it will create another big bump and flush situation.
