What's your reason why the contract should be compromised during this volcano issue while the company continues to issue the furlough threat...?
Do you have anything more concrete to your tirade response or do you just like throwing anvils against the wall hoping they stick like spaghetti ?

Where did I say compromise the contract, I didn't, but you took it upon yourself to infer that...thanks but no thanks, try it on someone else.

Where did I post my position on the contract, I didn't but you think putting words in my mouth will help your credibility, it didn't.

Next time think before you hit the send button.

Sorry you think me wanting the contract to be followed is a "tirade".

Perhaps you struck a nerve with your snide @ss "Lets all submit our resignations" reply. Yes, to the bottom 300 the sky may well be falling, and to see all the JAs continued to be picked up and the contract not being followed just rubs salt in the wound.

It must be nice not having the furlough treat hanging over your head.

I am being furloughed, or at least threatened to be. I am on off days and senior people to me are taking JA's and I have not received one call. Just because I live in ANC shouldn't mean that the company shouldn't follow the contract. I should get these trips or at least called. I'll grieve it. Need money before they let me go. Screw them...they are going to do it to me.

J DAwg, I'm not sure what you meant about the furlough threat 'not hanging over your head', but FliFast is in the bottom 300 too....

Junior Line slug viewpoint- Lets use the ANC base closure to keep more jobs here at UPS and give more leverage to the IPA by not picking up JA's therby not stealing junior reserve guys jobs.

Senior Line slug viewpoint- Lets use the ANC base closure to pick up more JA's, thereby padding my wallet and proclaiming to the world once again how awesome I'am! This place wouldn't even exsist without me!

Military Line Slug viewpoint- HU-RAHH!!!!

If your not in the bottom 300 you should still worry about a furlough, Because it will be the next 300 they haven't announced yet, that will get you.

Default Scheduling gotchas (beware)

So, wrt to the ops contingency plan, I called crew skeds to see if I actually need to commute to ANC this week for reserve days. He noted I live already live in a city where he has an uncovered trip and said if I moved a reserve day I could start from home. If not, I'd have to go to PDX or SDF...

So, first, the trip he's talking about falls outside my legal on-call period (assuming I moved the day). So that's not contractual. Second, if I don't move the day and he positions me to PDX or SDF, he wants to do it on my day off prior to the reserve period (logic being I would have had to commute then anyway). The way I see it: if I move myself, it's on my day off; if he moves me, it's on days on (so he would need to position me on the first day of reserve). Called the union; they were totally onboard with the trip not starting during legal on-call period but a little more squishy on the position on day off. I guess the deal they made with the company on Fri indicates UPS will pay for the commute/hotel but expect full reserve period (no travel days). I think option 3 (covered by the contract) is: I get myself to ANC however, and sit for 8 days doing nothing -- scheduler already told me all flights for the next week are scheduled outside of ANC.

CC,

I agree. In fact, FliFast is right with me in the 180's. I was just trying to keep it generic......That's why I found the post by J Dawg so laughable.

Gotcha ...

That puts me in the 170's ... not the bottom, but definitely where the crap slows on its way downhill !
