FDX Excess Bid delayed......again
#14
Well, as one who has a major dog in this fight (losing my left seat slot), I was very concerned that the Company has now violated our CBA in 2 areas during this Excess bid. 1st they were non-compliant in the execution and delivery of the practice bids (24.B.1.d) and 2nd they were non-compliant with not amending a bid once posted (24.B1.e). So I called the Union contract enforcement section and explained my case. I was passed to the "Union Duty Officer" who took my concerns the attorneys. He called me back and said yes I was right they did amend the Bid but we were not going to do anything about it because Our Chairman asked that it be done. So, which provisions of our CBA are valid? It appears we have Union Officers independently vacating provisions on one hand and enforcing others with the other hand. Our PSIT cannot build lines less than the contractual minimum, thus held out of the process by our Chairman, but when the Co. dorks up an excess bid, our Officers say "oh thats ok" instead of making them do it over, properly. The net for me and all other excessed members is at least 2 more weeks of pay at our current rate.

So now they should have enough "accurate data" to decide whether or not to cancel the excess bid entirely or to let it play out as is. Personally, I think the company needs to throw down the "do over" card! Can anyone say grievance? Oh, nevermind...

mis-deal, mis-deal......
I feel like the poker game is "Indian" and we all have a card licked and stamped to our forehead..........DW will claim he didn't know he bid 777....or that he forgot to change it before it closed....
Wait...correction...to give him credit. He did say we all had to make a "personal decision" about our actions.....I guess he made his decision......with a side-letter sitting in the ALPA safe.
Good leadership not only leads from the front, but also avoids the appearance of impropriety. (Just in case you didn't get it the first time Sleepy) I will say it again. Good leadership avoids the appearance of impropriety.
Seems like this leader group is so concerned about a lawsuit....except maybe from its constituents......

This is the dumbest operation I have ever worked for. Scratch that, the commuter I worked for was the dumbest. This is some kind of hybrid of dumb and devious. I am so pi$$ed. If I get excessed, it is scorched earth policy for me. I am going to wring every last day and penny out of them before my move and training is complete. What a load of slimy, smelly, steaming, frothy horse....

Thursday has now become D-Day for the company. 1) Excess bid posted for pilot force, 2) Earnings released, 3) Non-pilot FedEx employees find out whether they have jobs or not. Thursday will truly be a unique day in our company's history, and probably not a great day for alot of families. Good luck to all.
