Is changing the closing date of the posting an amendment? I haven't read that far into the CBA, but it might be something to consider this weekend.

No worries, I was just playing around. Not enough of us admit when we're wrong anyway. I'm not getting the feeling that we're being toyed with, more that we have two factions (company and union) who have never been down this road before which means missteps and other 'fun'. As Gunter said, for whatever reason, I think the company is pretty determined to actually run the excess bids to fruition this time. In the end they may or may not modify things via cancellations and future vacancies, but it looks like they want to go through with step 1. I think that if a 'global solution' is actually negotiated, many will be disappointed because they will expect it to be linked to a stop or mitigation of the excesses and I don't think it will be.
