So......then......net loss of only 1 in all the seats w/1-excess?
Makes sense......so the seats w/1-excess will have guys come in above and go out below on a 1-for-1 equal basis, and the overall seat total there will be net-1 less than when they started?
(but of course, we aren't privy to the actual starting numbers, so we could never be sure they did it that way - as per the CBA - or not.....right?)

Unless of course, you want to go to HKG

Great answers everyone. Thanks a bunch.
So now, if I understand it all correctly, theoretically the top 37 MEM 11 F/O's can all bid MEM 57 Capt. (bidding to relieve excess in their seat) because they are all senior to the most junior 757 Capt. The net result will be the 757Capt. list increases by 37, and the MEM 11 F/O list maintains the same number of pilots. All this even though the 757 isn't listed on the excess bid.

what's next?
any thoughts?
what about cancelling all but HKG awards (again) and going back to square one (again)?
is this just an excercise in futility (again)? or, is the company actually going to go through with the results this time?
If they go through with it.......it'll be years before all the training/moving is done (again). I just can't see them wasting all that time/$$$ (again).
???

Basically anyone who is sr and bids to relieve excess is throwing a monkey wrench into the process. Because they can move right back on the next excess bid. So if everyone who is sr in an excessing seat bids to the 757 then there will have to be another bid to try and flush them out. When they could bid right back where they came from. Isn't this fun. Lot's of these problems could be solved by fixing the LOA, liberal leaves of absence, and putting a max cap on pay per month.

Remember that that does not mean that only 91/84 maybe the only number of guys getting excess out. It is possible to have more than that moved when others are moved into that seat. Just look at ANC Capt's, 12 were in excess but a lot more than 12 guys were moved out. ( I am one of them!)

That's what the "net" part means. You are right.

How about in our next round of negotiations, this business of EXCESS gets better addressed and held to a system of constraint ??? From the FCIF that I read, the Company can continue to EXCESS until they get the results they want. Again, we need CONTRACT LANGUAGE that will protect US, not hurt US and the business of LANGUAGE INTENT must be done, not set aside by someone that "knows what they are doing" .......................................
