FDX-An Outgoing MEC Representative's Perspect
Can someone explain to me how a former Block Rep is allowed to issue a self-serving revisionist diatribe under the union letterhead? It is nothing more than a rose-colored look back trying to justify ALL of the back door dirty political actions taken over the past several years.
Furthermore, it smacks of a political endorsement of the status quo by this former block rep. No wonder it was readily published by DW, DM, & WR. I do agree with his closing remark, "... take the time to write and call them if you have questions and concerns over the direction of our association."
They'll be hearing from me tonight!

Just more rationalizations about why they (the MEC/LEC) "did the right thing" instead of listening to their membership. I found the article somewhat discouraging as well. Why is the appearance of unanimity so important that it overrides an individual's right to their own opinion? These guys are seriously smoking crack if they think that we think they are all in agreement 100% of the time. Nor, do I think, we care. Is that really the most important issue, that every decision appear to be unanimous?
In my best LT Cafferty voice, if the age change was inevitable, why was it important for us (ALPA) to be in favor of it? Colonel?
Imagine the unity that would have been fostered if the union had simply followed the will of the membership. The outcome would have been exactly the same (to date ZERO of the provisions promised in exchange for our support have been enacted/funded), and the legislation would have passed. Our union leadership could have held their heads high because they fought to defend the will of their constituents.
Here is a situation where we should have followed the example of the APA and the NW MEC. I don't see too many folks suing them over the lack of support of the age change.

Seems to be an awkward attempt at re-writing history. Gotta wonder if the current leadership is tracking some polls and trying to turn their trainwreck around.

As hinted above, not as long as your polishing a turd (hope I can slip that graphic analogy past the sensors). Seems like it would have been nice to get one from the former Subic Rep or maybe the former NC Chair? Like the scene in Zoolander, I actually threw up a little in my mouth when I read that drivel. From personal experience, I can say the current crop of MEC officers have been the cart in front of the horse for some time now, not how it was depicted in his farewell stump speech.
At least WR has come out with some impassioned vote-getting stuff lately... Hope he 'elects' to return to the line soon. Like after May...
