I know SS, I've flown with SS, he's a bright guy (MIT grad I believe?). I've seen him "fix" FMS problems that I've read were "unfixable." He was my block rep. Because I knew him, I would email him and bend his ear face to face at union meetings.
I have always found him to be a reasonably unemotional rational guy (the kind of person we would want as a block rep!). The only time I saw his "ire" was while he discussed union "hate mail" received from a SFS pilot during LOA discussions.
Don't get me wrong ... we almost always agreed to disagree at the end of our LOA/AGE 65/CBA discussions but he was always willing to listen and take whatever time it required to reply. For that, I think we owe him the courtesy of listening to his perspective on this issue (notice I didn't say agree, just listen/read).

I don't think anyone is saying he's dumb or not an okay guy. The problem is that one month before the next MEC officer election, he gets a platform to endorse certain candidates for the MEC election that happen to be the incumbants who control the medium he is using. Can't remember any other outgoing MEC rep. getting the same opportunity.
If it looks like a turd and smells like a turd, it's probably a turd.

Man, now I'm all confused... We want WR and DM out as part of the DW regime, right? And we want it done ASAP or we'll be AFU and things will be FUBAR, 10-4?

FR8......I think the SS you are referring to is the R and I chairman who is the guy we need. The SS referred to who wrote the turd piece we are quoting is the outgoing block 3 MEC rep. Hope this clears up the SS problem. (BTW...the SS was also Hitler's fanatical group of bodyguards.)
