It's all about the "me generation".
FOTFLMAO. You got to be one the geezer fans for sayin this, Are you serious they gave away 3500$ to 3000$ so the fo's can get a better pay scale. Your negotiating committee was murdering the fo pay to raise the pension for these guys, Thanks to dean and cindy for fighting every step for not letting it happen. You're either in denial or hiding in a cave, take your head out of the sand and look around. The fo's were in line to get sc..ed once aain on a b-scale for a lousy 500$ extra and let me be the first to say this even if the pension was 4000 a month every one a these geezers would have stick around. With 0 life outside of brown + greed = 21st century geezers. I be the first to vote for pension reduction. I'm not willing to give up a junior pilot to a greedy geezer.

That type of productive debating really helps. Definitely a unity builder.

Default pension

fr8k9....

It's hard to be facing financial ruin if you're a young guy at ups. You have time enough left at either ups or another job to accrue pension credit or 401k funding for your retirement. What is it that you want the IPA to do to prevent ups from furloughing possibly 300 crewmembers? What can the IPA do to make the overstaffing at ups go away? If you're looking to dilute the contract, think again! Once any concession is granted, you will never get it back without giving up something else.

Before you pi$$ in your wheaties some more, take the ipod out of your ears, take off your cool backpack and come up with something better than taking away a benefit from this contract to give you a better chance of staying on property longer. If you've been here any length of time, you know that dealing with ups is like dealing with the devil.

I'm off my soapbox for you and your ****ant thinking.

You cannot reduce an accrued benefit (unless you are the PBGC.

You can freeze current a pension, meaning that no further benefits accrue, or you can reduce future accruals.

In either case, the pension liability does not go away and must be dealt with.

About the only DB plans not in trouble, are those that went to bonds while they were at a fully funded status.

With all the old guys referring to the young guys facing financial ruin as the 'me generation' and the other names that guys like say again and jungle use, I'd be willing to guess that all the pilots around my age and younger would gladly sell the old guys pensions away. I know I would! I'd laugh my ass off at some of you crabby, crusy old dirt bags that are so willing to dump our newest guys to the street just so you can buy that bigger boat or airplane. I'll be glad to see you guys gone, that's for sure.
Ditto brother. I hope this goes for a vote because i can tell you what the outcome will be.

All of this talk - young vs old, junior vs senior, etc - is exactly what UPS wants to hear. This is playing out the way they want it to. Please don't let that happen. Focus your anger and frustrations anywhere except towards your fellow IPAers. Let's focus on what we can control - not what we can't.

I agree with you IPAMD11FO. It is unfortunate that a small "vocal" number don't see the big picture.

Just curious however, how is it any different when one group is expecting someone else to give up their livelihood for another. Whether you are junior/senior or young/old - to express oneself in the manner that "brownie" or "FR8K9", is just not well thought out. Direct your energy towards the real culprits - UPS and the economy.

You, on the other hand just won a million dollar lottery ticket and probably have a boat, a big house and an airplane.

Man, I'll be glad to see you old geezers out of here.

I vote for cutting your pension! All of it. How much will that save?
Thanks for showing us the real face of your concept of brotherhood.

You mean the ones that "gamed the system?" At the vast majority of other airlines this group wouldn't be asked for anything, they'd be GONE.
