Let's just say it wouldn't shock me if they actually go out and hire more managers during the furlough to cover the flying left behind by the laid-off IPA guys.
I wouldn't put it past them.
Anyone seen the J Barnes video? His attempt to sell the "we need to cut cost" was sooooooooooooo lame. Must be hard to play that line when you only made a few billion dollars profits.
Dude would make a great used-car salesman.

I dislike the "inner airline" just as much as the next guy but I tend to agree with AV8OR. I dont see any value in degrading the mgt pilots. The ones I've talked to are guys like you and me. Many were furloughed from previous airlines and Brown offered them a job and they took it. Some just wanted to work in a mgt capacity and had no desire to undercut the pilot group. How many IPAers would have turned down a UPS mgt pilot slot when they sitting at home furloughed (I know thats not everyone's story). I was halfway through probation before I fully understood the threat that the mgt guys presented to us and I'm sure some of them were on property before they realized it too (other than the crossovers). In fact does anyone know how many mgt guys were hired off the street and how many came from within?
Once again I'm a IPAer, in the potential furlough group and I think the mgt gang should be laid off with or before any union pilots but its not b/c I dont like them personally...its just whats right IMO

So guys telling people to treat them with respect is just down-right silly.Time to bring out that militant union attitude and rough it up a little.

How can you fault a manager for taking a job at UPS if that was all that he was offered? Those guys have kids and families just like we do.

This is one thing that truly worries me, guys that are too tight with managment guys. I would not trust one of these guys, they will buddy up to you in order to get your trust, then screw you, ANC ACP's included.
And some wonder how management guys get access to the B&G, don't have to think too hard on that one.

Yes, they have a job to do, and I would rather that they were on the IPA list, but I think they have bigger fish to fry than buddying up with me just to screw me sometime in the future.

This is where I completely disagree. I don't believe that any ACP purposely buddies up with me, just to get some leverage, so he can screw me later on down the line. Sorry, but I don't believe that.

I have fellow aviators at JAL that after 18 years were told a few days ago that as of July 1, they will no longer be employed. Let's hope that we can find the cost savings the company wants and not alter one letter of the hard earned IPA contract!

Sega,
The job you were hired to do is primarily to subvert the contract you are referring to. If you supported the said contract you would have, along with the other acp's, pursued union benefits as well. The facts are no other airline has or needs such a large contingent of management pilots to perform the functions you seem to think you are required for. You are not positioned to benefit the majority of the pilot group as an ACP. How many managers, sorry supervisors, are facing a job loss right now? Where will you be if 300 pilots are furloughed and the company is short staffed to cover a flight???...that's right, you will be delaying the return of that union brother or sister. Enjoy your bone_us flying. I have no doubt you want UPS to perform, all of us do. I am also sure you are a fair and reasonable person and that you work hard. Unfortunately, the nature of your job is there to cover the elimination of mine. When and if you join the seniority list you will have my respect and attention, until then you will have neither.

Captain Cook, the rub with some IPA'ers is that not all managers were hired as managers. Some left the IPA ranks for that job.
