Why isn't PABLO being considered? While S.S. is a good dude, Pablo has the advantage of experience in every prior position possible. While one could say PC had the same experience the noteworthy difference is one of them isn't out to destroy what was once a kick-butt job. You guess who.

One of the things guys forget about these jobs is they are cubicle jobs. Sounds nice when you are on week 2 of a hub turn bag drag, but after my ALPA Leadership Conference, MEC meetings x X times, phone teleconferences, special meetings, etc. I am reminded that the guys I interact with in the office are there ALL THE TIME. Yeah...they can bump a flight here or there, but basically you are an office worker. A well paid guy, but still a friggin' Kiwi in my eyes. Glad some guys want to do it. I don't. I can't speak for the man, but the cool thing about being a rep is you get hopefully have some impact and help your fellow pilots, but you are still a LINE PILOT.
My AF career consisted of 20 years active and ANG....all in the cockpit. If you would have asked me years ago if after 1, 2, or even 3 Eagle tours if I'd be ready for a "staff" job, I probably would have said "yeah...I think I would be..." But the reality is I NEVER got to the point I wanted to take a break from it and do staff work. Flying until 60 was one of the appeals of leaving the military to chase the airline dream...and I still enjoy it.
Long answer to a short question...and I don't pretend to speak for anyone else...but the hard-core union officers and committee guys give up a lot of flying to do the job. In some cases...guys like that. In some cases, guys don't. I'm in the latter camp, so you probably won't see me doing any of those other jobs down the road. I think there are several reps who feel the same way.

I generally avoid posting because you guys are off your rockers on here, but if you truly want someone new, you need to make sure that who you think is new really is.
Whomever you decide to support, just make sure that you know who all was on the team for certain decisions. The only one who might be clean and hasn't seem to have done any union job is David Chase. Seems Scott Stratton was on the ALPA Blue Ribbon Panel for Age 60 that recommended the change which the MEC was briefed on by him.
I've also heard that he had some involvement with the FDA LOA tax stuff. Maybe worth asking him about these two things for you Pro Change guys.

Dear FDX ALPA Member
In a special MEC meeting conducted via teleconference last week your elected representatives received briefings on the Age 60 issue from Joe Fagone, FDX ALPA Executive Vice President, Scott Stratton, FDX MEC R & I Chairman and a member of the ALPA Blue Ribbon Panel, as well as Frank Voyack of ALPA Government Affairs. Based on the facts surrounding the issue, we believe an increase in the FAA regulated age is inevitable. It is just a question of whether the change will come from Congress or the FAA, and on what timeline.
Yada Yada Yada...
MEC Chairman Captain Dave Webb will be attending the Executive Board meeting later this month along with his fellow MEC Chairmen. Your MEC stands united in support of Captain Webb advocating for the NPRM process as the preferred vehicle for any regulatory change and for the protection of our members’ seniority rights. We urge you to do the same.
