Default Fdx Dc-10

I thought I remembered the last time I was in Memphis, that there were posters up saying the last flight of the 10 was 12Feb, cake etc in the AOC. Obviously, this isn't the case since there are FIVE lines next month.

I guess what I am getting at, do any of you know, when they are going to call it quits, and put you guys a on R-24?

Default DC-10 retirement

The last scheduled flight for the 10 arrives in MEM on the night of the 29/30 March. According to BG, head of STDS and the head of crew planning there will be no bid pack for April. There may be some ferry flights to take airplanes to Victorville, Ca for storage or Venice, Italy for MD-10 conversion but no more revenue flights. Those ferry flights are usually flown by the test section under Part 91 rules.
The poster the OP saw was for a final landing party that was held on Feb 21st. We raised over $2000 for the Ronald McDonald House here in MEM.

I saw the poster in ops when I was there for training, but I really didn't give it much thought. I did look at the 10's bid pamphlet and all five lines that are in it. I was just wondering if they are going to make another big deal over it, if and when....

I would think they would have the fire department out to give the final flight a "hose job" like they do for some retirements.
