My bet is that the CA HKG bid will be cancelled after the excess bids are finished. This is just a ploy to keep junior 727 CA's from biddng for passover.

I've wondered for a long time if PC's job is on the line over HKG not being fully manned (did he assure senior management it wouldn't be a problem, even with the crappy LOA?). I've assumed he'd find some way to make HKG look attractive enough to fill all the vacancies? This might just be the way ...

Yeah I saw it too....now....I figured I might as well spout off before I read the FCIF and saw the facts......it'll change a few times before then anyway.

By the way Aeris....I very much approve of your avatar....one of my favorite songs is "A Pirate Looks at 40"..............now I feel like a 40+ Pirate looking at a 20 something pirate.........AAAARRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHH

Avast Matey!

Yeah they can run up to 4 excess bids before the HKG vacancy closes.

"Rumor" has it they will close the HKG bid before the excess shoe falls in a big way. Standby if you are in ANC or on the Bus.

My mother tells me that I'm not stupid, just a little slow (special). With that being said, ****? I just don't follow. Please expound fr8.

Yeah, I'm not sure I follow fr8, besides they can't amend a posting once it's released. They can only cancel it and with FDA's they have to be open for 28 days, so how many times would/could they do that and still maintain there target time frame for a completed bid process?

I've had payloads just shy of 90k on 310's (with some positions palletized)--I don't know what it carries, but I'm sure the 75 is no where near that.

As for the F/O, the LOA is such a shaft job, I would rather be in the least paying crew position stateside than an F/O in HKG under the current LOA. I found it very interesting and very telling that before the excess bid that has been the black cloud for months and after PC's latest FCIF, that this vacancy posting has come out. Like someone else has already said, I'ld be surprised if their are any new takers, but I've been surprised before.
You bring up some good points. Even if you want it, you would bid it on an excess and force them to buy a house, rather than bidding on a vacancy. They must think very little of our ability to figure that one out.

By having 20 open slots for HKG Capt they prevent the junior widebody Capts (that will get bumped out by an excess) from throwing HKG in their standing bid to continue to get widebody Capt pay no matter where they end up.

My guess is the HKG bid is open longer than it needs to be so those that are willing to take the seat on an excess will still have the chance. If they get enough takers on the excess bids they can then cancel posting 09-01
