FDX - Excess Bid Strategies

So, if you lived in mem, you would deal with TSA and a two leg dh back to mem on a 737 or RJ instead of stretching out on the jet you flew in on 1 hour after you landed? Give me a fricking break.........

If it was an a.m. launch I would. Probably not an afternoon launch. I've given up on going directly to the airport to deadhead home. Rather get at least some rest at the hotel.

Call the union, ask them, post their answer here. That way we will know what the people who work for us think.

Personally, I have only done it once, because I needed to get home for my son's soccer tournament. But KRONAN seems to think that it is a no no. I've seen the crap that commuters go through to save a day away from home, and I take it as an insult to balk at a guy taking the js home instead of messing with a dh.

Is the secret negotiating you're referring to the result of the CDG canx debacle?
I think they will say something if you ask regarding your specific situation, something Albie did-and commented on- last year about his decision on bidding HKG or not.
And as an occasional First Class weasel, have to comment that even with the upgraded cost I still don't exceed the travel funds FedEx has budgeted and written off as a business expense for tax purposes.
The thing I disagree with is all of the planet guys choosing the immediate J/S home versus running through the airport. Shoot, hard to imagine how much money the company "makes" as a result of all those tickets being canx'd. I've flown with more than one guy who's gotten in trouble with the company for never filing an expense report because, although they deviated, they never purchased a ticket. "If I don't have any expenses, then why should I file an expense report"
