Not to hijack the thread and all, but what I can tell you for the 75 in Paris is they don't want it here. Maint, and moreover the issue of cans. With ramp space a premium over here, it is also a delay/hastle to take cans from a nb and have to break them down and repack to a wb can to ship out of cdg. If they maintain the bus, all the compatability issues go away, and there is no new cost with maint and such.

Everyone over in the cdg area is rumoring that if it does become a domicile, expect it to be a bus one.

MY 2 cents

A CEO's job is establish strategic direction and to motivate.

He will be very positive in public, you bet. The Prez and Captains of industry need to help this economy out of it's funk with inspirational speeches.

If there is any dirty work to be done, expect his staff to do it.

Read between the lines. Lots of qualifiers like the economy "may" improve in the 4th quarter. He also said cuts in upper manager pay and elimination of bonuses were the first "draconian" steps that needed to be accomplished.

"O" was asked directly at a Jan 09 LCA Mtg about possible A300/757 FDA in CDG and/or MD-11 FDA in HKG.

He said that opening another FDA in these domiciles would actually make the flying there more "pilot efficient" and that's NOT what we want if we are looking to delay or prevent a furlough.

He stated is takes about 1.5 times as many pilots to run a SIBA op vs having pilots domicilied in those FDAs.

Thus, in the long term --- Yes, FDAs in CDG and HKG....but, not in the short-term with the current overmanning.

Of course, that was his take in Jan....

I would venture to say 3 times for HKG.
