Default UPS - how to move forward when time comes?

So when the 8 goes away along with the Walmart greeter jobs it provides 50-60 guys (and leaves as an option for a couple hundred near 65's over the next few years)...AND all the Capt/FOs get displaced into the system:

1. How do the junior kids get out of ANC?

2. Is there an advantage of the MD vs the 400 for this? (considering the MD in SDF will be the most senior in the lower 48, I'm not sure the like-kind rule that the 75 has enjoyed will really matter)

My initial thoughts were that since the FE upgrade to FO route/advantage will be gone (only 2 transitions per vacancy then remainder go to upgrades) and the MD SDF will be so senior, as noted above, that it will boil down to system seniority and slowly (one by one with vacancies via growth and retirements) each 'kid' will be able to make their lateral move back to where they were a few years prior?

Any ideas?

This airline is not growing. It is actually shrinking for crewmembers due to the replacement of 3 person jets with 2 person jets.

Unless we actually increase the number of jets on the property ...

IMHO of course !

Signed into law Dec 13, 2007... So technically things will resume to normal Dec 31, 2012.

Unless some UPS'ers get their way.......... Age 70 on the way.

We need contractual protection for all of the career FO's here at UPS.

Is that a mistype? I still think that it would be 12.13.2012. That would be the last day that a guy who was 60 on 12.13.2007 could work.

Like what was said earlier, THE VOCAL MINORITY wins!!!!! They had Prator, the ATA, and Geezers going to Washington weekly.

The had secret e-mails and web site. Facts. Only the pro change could get the address. Phone trees. Numbers to Congressman. They worked the system while everyone else sat on their butts!!! Thinking, it will never pass with the 109th congress coming in just weeks.

The silent majority doesn't work. Congress actually thought pilots wanted the change once Prator twisted the survey results at ALPO.

We have ourselves and our leadership to blame. I feel 100% that our EB wanted the age changed also. This is why they sat quiet, not wanting to disturb a sleeping group. What about CAPA? Isn't the main voice SWA? Well golly gee, imagine that.

But assuming:
1. age 70 isn't a factor AND
2. the dc8 dies soon (along with all those 50+ over 65 - not literally, so don't go getting ****ed and have a heart attack) AND
3. the airline does 'grow back' with deliveries...

Is there any advantage to MD or 400 in ANC for now?

If for some unfortunate reason you found yourself on the outside looking for work, what type rating do you think would serve you better, the -400 or the MD-11?

Smarta**. What do you think? That being VOCAL, even if your the minority veiw, gets things done. And for ALPO membership not saying Prator is twisting the Survey results to his wants. Not the memberships.
