I think that means (since there was no net increase in front seats in the Realignment Vacancy Bid) that the Displacement Bid will send a total of 67 FO's and FO awardees to FE.

From the reference seniority list, I count 46 DC8 CPT, 21 DC8 FO, and 7 ONT CPT remaining to be displaced. There must be a few vacancies that were not filled, because the total to be displaced does not equal the 67 total upgrades from FE to FO, above. The unfilled vacancy assumption seems reasonable as the system-wide junior pilot received an FO award.

On another note, Manpower Planning estimated that all this would fill up the school house through September, and that there would probably be another bid out before then to keep the school house in business.

As for airplanes, was told by someone who should know that the delivery schedule for the 767's looks like this through next summer: One each 767 in July, October, January, March, April, June, July. If that holds, there should be some significant vacancies in 757 domiciles, though I've heard they won't need any more for the first two or three deliveries. Hopefully, there will also be a couple more 747's early next year also.

And of course, there is the DC8. I don't think anyone knows how long that will last. There is a lot of time before the next bid for that to be mulled over. I think the main thing to watch for between now and then is transfers to ROW (for storage) and whether or not they resume doing annual checks in SAT. By my count, we have 27 DC8 tails in the "working" inventory, counting four that are at GSO for "repair mapping."
Roberto,

You seem to have the good contacts! Very interesting. By the way, you can take the word "soon" off of your position under your avatar. Congrats on the upgrade!

A bit of hope in a storm of pessimism is that there will be several who simply will not commute to ANC with the hope that things actually will improve in the near/mid term. Among the beauties of our no-differential pay is that guys who rarely even go west of the Mississippi won't chase the paycheck all the way to ANC as there are no Mc Donalds in Almaty...yet.
There are many of us junior SDF Capts who will not go ANC. Mil and family commitments so will stay SDF based as an F/O (MD-1F)
I will upgrade to Capt faster than if I went to ANC as a Capt now and tried to get back to lower 48 as a Capt. Will take the 80K hit and upgrade again in a few years in SDF. There are no JS's out of SDF and don't want to suffer that trauma for years. Been watching that nightmare for awhile and have been firmly convinced of the futility of doing that by choice. No way. So F/O it is.
Truth is, my pay will be nearly identical as to when we upgraded a few years ago. This CBA was that good on F/O rates!

I have a question.

I'm an FO in ONT and not seatlocked. Could I have gotten SDF 757 FO on this bid if there are 757 SDF FOs junior to me or does there have to be a new opening? I didn't think that our bidding system is that cut and dry since I know someone on domestic 757 trying to get into ONT and they have not been able to. I am so confused with the way our bids work!!!
My issue is is that if I'm going to be on RSV in ONT, I'd rather just be RSV in SDF since I can drive to SDF. Thanks.

Default Age 70

There are UPS'ers on Capital Hill this week pushing for Age 70 legislation. No kidding. I know one by name. I think the majority who have been negatively impacted by the windfall for the over-60's need to band together. They (The gramps crowd) may be well ahead of us in mobilizing politicos, but with Moody and Farley in office, I think we have enough new blood in the union to bring equity back to the contract for anyone under 50.

Ideas anyone?

BRACE, BRACE, BRACE.

Food for thought for carnage mitigation... retirements in '09 =4, '10 =25, '11-'13 = 149. Deliveries '09 = 2, '10 = 6, '11/'12 = 22

One more moveback from the -8's whenever they go to the boneyard and in a mere 6 or 7 years we'll be back to where we were before the Bush Depression / Age 65. Thanks oops-I-crapped-my-pants*. (*Obscure comedic reference for you SNL fans from the 90's)

I'm pretty sure it's not a good time to be lobbying for anything right now other than getting free $ from the gov't. Pretty pathetic that some want to work even longer.

The vocal minority schooled us with their lobbying and secret emails on the age 65 legislation, its time the silent majority stood up and was counted.

How about a name? Are they Union? PM if you like. Thinking of joining one of the committees, but not if the union is advocating age 70. TIA

Short answer: Yes, you could have been awarded a recurring vacancy in SDF.
If your seniority could hold an "Original Vacancy" seat, would have gotten that one without a recurring vacancy requirment. Lots of folks today went from ONT to SDFZ F/O and vice versa. Some from MIA to ONT etc. Most junior ONT to SDFZ was 2667, several in the 2650's went ONT to original A300 F/O spots. 2647 was most junior ONT to SDF 75 that I saw.
Diplacement bid will change things though.
