Not hardly. I've known Dexter since 1990 and Rick from well before that. I knew him when he was an enlisted swine (like myself.) There's probably no one who knows Rick that doesn't like him a lot. Except of course his ex. But that's another story. You really couldn't find a nicer guy.

While there's no denying that politics plays a part in the selection of General Officers, both within the National Guard as well as the Active Duty forces, in this case, I can speak from knowing the facts, and can honestly tell you that if politics played any part at all, they were not played by Rick, so much as they were played for Rick. If you were to look at his professional resume, both within the Air National Guard, as well as his civilian life as an Air Traffic Controller, that followed by a high level ATC supervisory position in the Boston ARTCC, while at the same time representing the State of Connecticut in particular, and the Air National Guard in general, in relation to Range and Airspace utilization, you'd realize that he's the absolute perfect person for the job he's been promoted into. He's professional, a good stick, humble, and a very dear friend, and I was happy that I sponsored him at FedEx. I believe he's held in high regard with both his peers as well as Flight Management, and I know he'll make us all proud.

Of course, this has no bearing on the individual in question in the original post. Just sayin...
