Default FedEx Trip Drops

FDX CRS seems to be holding trips and then assigning them to reserve guys before anyone can pick them up. A solution to the problem is to let others know, via pilotswap.net so that they can pick it up without CRS getting their hands on it. That way everyone wins, except the company.

Management has handled this situation very poorly and it will not be forgotten. Do what has to be done to level the playing field. If anyone else has ways to legally self help please post it.

tell that to the junior guys....furlough is largely based on reserve utilzation...seems the company is putting reserves to work so maybe less are at risk of furlough!!...just some food for thought...

Take a look at some or the plots with R24 this month, and not getting called out. Lots of hotel standbys assigned. Talked to one guy on the crew bus and said over 20+ pilots on HSBY at the hotel.

This looks good for reserve usage, but many dollars being spent on hotels and perdiem.

I'm with BoyCaptain on this one. It is better off to get reserve utilization up right now.

Could be a cost cutting measure. Reserve pilots are a fixed cost, every trip they can fill with a reserve pilot means they don't have to pay somebody make up at this time. They are getting free loans from the pilots who drop trips or do no makeup.

Scheduling is also creating MEM airport standbys, remember those?, for assignment to A or B reserve only.

They do not all go to reserves. I just watched the MD-11 airport stby hit, the show was a little over 2 hours. F/O went to a reserve, the capt was picked up by a guy who has reserve the rest of the month.

There is an ANC F/O with 3 of them this week that he picked up.

Ok guys here we go again. We are just pi$$ing into the wind until the union comes out and gives direction not to fly any extra. If someone has makeup to do and the union leadership is not discouraging the use of it why is this such a big deal? If guys are on the streets and people are flying makeup when the union calls it struck work then it is a totally different story. Until then fights on for anything extra that comes out as long as it is not disputed. I for one think it is better to fly my make up now as a captain than wait until I am excessed as a fo. I don't get it why some people are calling guys names for taking a make up trip. If it is in open time then go for it. How is that hurting us, it is an extra trip? Can someone show me how an exta 80 hour trip that pops up and someone can snag it before he is furloughed is wrong? Am I missing something? Personaly, I think it is BS that our weak ass union has not clamped down on the protection of carry over until the last month when it suddenly became a crisis. They have known about it for years but have done nothing about it. I don't fly dp's and I don't fly draft/volunteer when we are in negotiations but give me a break, if I have to drop a trip I can't make it up? WtFover?

If you are swapping your 62CH trip with an 80CH trip, good for you. However, if you are picking up an 80CH to fly in addition to your 62CH, you are part of the problem, period. You are doing the work of two guys, so why should Fred pay two of us (pay, health care, retirement, etc.) when one will do, plain and simple. And before you say it's not happening, I've flown with 3 guys in the last two months with between 115 and 140CHs on their calender. BTW, you could not be more correct on carryover.
