Talked to the asst. Chief Pilot last week and he said probably no hiring for at least 6 months but he said he could be wrong. One 10 parked because of no business otherwise things seemed fairly normal. One question.....what is this deal between alpa and the ata guys getting preferencial interviewing??? Isnt world teamsters?? Somebody clue me in

ATA, North American and World are (or in the case of ATA were) owned by the same holding company Gobal Aero Logistics.
While I don't know if an offical preferential interview yet, I know that the company has been very happy with the former ATA pilots we hired.

I don't think it is that rosy over there, close friend got laid off with others at the corporate office down in Peachtree city two weeks ago. He was in Charter sales. From talking to him they are parking more aircraft in the near future. Just what I heard from him, don't quote me on it.

As the economy slows so will excess business. World may choose to park one more DC-10. It's a good thing World has gotten by with a shortage of DC-10 crews for the past year. No furloughs in forseable future.
