FDX I defended your honor
A note for you FEDEX people. I wanted your to know I defended your honor yesterday. I was talking to some of the ground people and they were complainng about the paycuts etc. and wanted to know why the pilots dont have to take a cut. They said that its because their union protects them. I explained that in fact you have taken a cut based on the fact that your hourly gaurentee has been reduced from 68 to something like 62 resulting in roughly a 20% pay cut. (would that be 20% ?) They just kind of starred at me. I didnt really go into how much per hour you guys get paid. I'm thinking they would have gotten stuck on the per hour rate and never would do the math. No sense stirring the pot. A manger also came up and said they had heard in a meeting yesterday that the pilots will be furloughing soon. Am I right on this or was I talking out my shorts? I know the F word has been kicked around but what about the other?

As far as the F word, skim thourgh a few of the other threads here in the Cargo section. You'll find numerous theories, insights, guesses, predictions, etc. The threat, though, I believe, is real!

yea I guess 68 down to 48 makes the math a little easier to understand. I feel for the guys on the bottom..being a bottom feeder myself. Actually I'm not even feeding now! Scrounging is more like it.

Just to clarify:
The MINIMUM LINE GUARANTEE has been dropped to 48, from 68. Actual credit hours, our pay, has dropped from about 73 to about 63(in a 4 week month), depending on the airplane, domicile and seat.
P.S. It is our contention that the minimum BLG was dropped in violation of our contract.

Because our hourly rate was not cut...hence we are not "sharing" the pain that mgmt has bestowed upon themselves....

We're turning into part time employees.
Anyone that talks to the other employees needs to share that we simply don't come to work as many days per month.
For those working in training or doing other office work, they did take a pay cut.
Stamp out ignorance but be nice. If they protest and say their manager says otherwise, tell them their manager is misinformed or not telling the truth.
Sounds like a campaign to make other employees happy that a furlough is going to happen.
"Get some of those overpaid guys outa here! We can't afford those unionized, no pay cut employees"

During negotiations last time, we had a website that was available to the public and put things into perspective for the uninformed i.e. other employee groups that were peppered with company propaganda. Maybe it's time we dust off that website so we can inform the other groups of just what exactly is happening with us. Instead of correcting one person at a time, we can just refer them to the website.
Just a thought.

It's time for a public information/media event.
