Too bad. The people who are in ANC right now like it there. We are going to be replaced by a bunch of MEM guys who don't want to be there and are going to do nothing but b!^Ch about how miserable they are. How hard the commute is...I don't envy JP having to deal with all this. Pretty much going to ruin ANC.

... Not to mention the ANC guys #$tching about having to commute to MEM. I can see the jumpseats getting tight and the bottleneck in SEA getting bigger.

On a more serious note, I hear commuting up there sucks. No contractual commuter protection.

True statement. You will come up a full day before your trip leaves after a whole night js. There is no mercy for not making a trip if you try to come in the same day. And if the ACP catches you doing it, you will be removed without pay. If you play by the rules everything is cool. Just expect to spend several of your days off in ANC hanging out without pay in a $100/night flea bag hotel.

Hope all those considering the move to anc understand the expense of living here.
Housing ...$$$ good for selling, not so much for buying
GAS....70 cents more than US average
Car Insurance...Double the cost over Lower 48
Property Tax...I know there's PFD but it may not be so good in the future
FOOD...Milk is crazy expensive
Most everything else just cost more by 20%
