DW talked and folks stayed for 2 hours.

Reviewed the differences in the language of the two grievances regarding 4.A.2.B.

Mentioned the South American flying. Said he was happy we have the flying, but the only reason for this is that the company doing the flying liquidated. None-the-less it amounts to more flying and added to the 12,000 hours of carryover being flown, the disability, military LOA.....the company could virtually solve their manning problem, but THEY WON'T ENGAGE with the Union on any of this.

Discussed the grievance the Union is filing regarding the 757 flex/lca instructor snafu. Regarding this reiterated that the Union IS NOT seeking money to be paid back from the individual pilots affected. They feel very confidant they will win this. It centers around allowing folks not currently bidding a jet (W/B) to be paid as though they were (757 instructor).

Emphasized the reason the MEC will not submit the "basically done" 777 LOA to the membership. Said it was "unfair" to put this out as it basically amounted to a payraise of $36/Hour for the senior 777 Captains while so many of us are taking it in the shorts. Said that in this 777 document, all issues were addressed - 777 instructor stuff, FLAG/SUPP rules, Over 60 international rules, ULR duty limits/rules. My take is the company is wanting this badly, good on the MEC for "doing the right thing".

Somebody has to help me with this one because it's only paraphrasing and what I took away from this section. Somebody brought up "if" the company furloughs. DW said if the economy continues to suck, we will probably start putting 15-20/month on the street. Doing it that way allows the company to issue furlough notices orderly, then if the economy snaps back, cancel them quickly and not have a ton of guys all on the street at once (say, furloughing 500 all at once). DW mentioned (feel free to edit/correct this) if we have ONE PILOT on the street they would look at not protecting min-days off or flying make-up as struck work. My opinion is in support of this.

Somebody asked if the company could do a big excess, set training dates, then cancel ONLY A PART of the training dates. Basically re-align to furlough, then cancel 75% of the seat movements and purge the bottom 25%. DW said the company owns the training letters till they are within 30 days of training start date. Up to that time, the company can cancel any slots they want. Could be a foreshadowing of things to come. DW did not have any data, in fact, has not engaged at all with the company about squat.

March line builds are about to start and DW remains skeptical as to what the SIG will encounter. He expects another "ejection" like FEB '09. A grievance has been filed regarding that already.

You know, the thing I take away from these last two meetings (and probably why the company places an entrusted scribe in the back row) is the UNITY. AOC was EMPTY. Everyone was in the TV room. I think the company has roused a sleeping giant to save "one million a month" (what it cost to buy up the lines). DW said he thought that our current flight management are concerned about their superiors finding out about the mismanagement that has gone around here.

That's all I can remember for now. Let's all stick together and support our Union.

When a majority of people voted for the Contract doesn't do much good to **** on them when you need their help to keep your's or someone else's job.
