April 09---another HKG bid trolling to see how many of the ANC FO will chose HKG over MEM with a huge pay cut. If they then fill HKG then they will slow roll any excess moves until the new HKG FOs start training.

Oct 09---cancel the excess bid. Too bad about the guys that went to HKG.

Jan 10---have a CGN 757 or airbus bid for the new European domicile.

Mar 10---A new HKG mini plus up bid.

May 10---New system bid with movement.

July 10---New hires.

Anyone else....
Dec. 21, 2012---The world comes to an end, thereby rendering all of this discourse moot.

Anyone else....

Dec 14th, 2013 - 3 recently retired pilots make their last flight west.

(ball park 2% chance of dying 65-66)

everybody dies, how many people ever really live?

I just saw a new study by the AMA, seems to be pretty well done. They found in America that 10 out of 10 people die at some point in their life.

So work on that high five, remember the "median" age of death for FDX pilots. Let me see, if I work to 65 I have a good chance of kicking the bucket at 62.8 years, so I'll need a few million....

Don't see any hiring until the retirements start going back on normal pace again. Shrinking fleet(seat count) and crippled economy combined with Company's recent attitude to ignore long-standing contract criteria will make them even more brazen in how they attack our work rules. We lose this grievance...stand by for an all-out assault on things like tweaking the optimizer and using reserves for everything they possibly can to maximize their usage. The good old days are gone for good!

Don't be an idiot, I will bet any amount of money you are willing to, pink slips, title to the house, that if you work to 65 you won't die at 62.8 years

if you make it to 65, the average life expectancy is another 16 years.
If you make it to 60, it's about 1/100 that won't make it to 61

I could care less what any pilot does, in fact, I'd highly encourage every other pilot to fly until 65, then transition to the back of the Boeing and fly for as long as they can walk. The longer YOU keep flying the stronger MY pension plan is.

Everybody has a finite number of days allotted to them, the question is where do you want to spend them? At the Apt waiting for the load crew to finish, or somewhere else.

Personally, I am planning to hit the road at 60. That's why I fund my 401k, an IRA, and some taxable investments as well.

I felt the need to correct the record. Passover Pay does not start... or stop until someone Junior ACTIVATES in a particular crew position.

A 27SO getting passover pay is based upon the Activation of a 27FO that is junior to the aforementioned SO... provided the 27SO has and has had 27FO at 100% somewhere on their standing bid and keeps it there until they Activate in the same seat or a higher paying seat.

During a backwards movement it works the same way. A person does not lose passover pay until all of the junior crewmembers Activate in their new position. In this example the 27FO has to go all the way through training and Activate as an 27SO for the more senior person to lose PO Pay.

Clear as Mud?

Where in the contract does it state one loses passover pay due to an excess?

If you are excessed, then if you put the seat that you are getting passover pay for on your standing bid, then you will be awarded that seat, except for an
FDA.

If you can no longer hold that seat because of a bump and flush situation, then the guy junior to you that caused the pop can't hold it either, so you would not be qualified for it anymore.
