RLG vs Days off

RLG vs Days off
I haven't made any of the meetings. Are we (ALPA) letting the company drop the R-day value to anything they want? I see on the 11 that most lines have 16 to 17 days off, yet the reserve lines have 12 days off with a R-value of 4.0 something.
Why don't they just lower the R-value to 1 and get it over with! And please, don't just tell me to bid a line, I would if I could.

"Section 4.C. A pilot who is awarded a reserve line shall have an RLG equal to the value of an R-day multiplied by the number of R-days scheduled on a reserve line for the bid period package (i.e., up to a maximum of 15 or 19 days). The value of an R-day shall be determined by dividing 96% of the average BLG for regular lines published in the bid period package by the number of R-days scheduled on a reserve line for the bid period package and then rounding that amount to the nearest minute. Prior to any adjustments, however, an RLG shall not be less than the minimum bid period guarantee."
Unfortunately the company has got us on this one. No where does it state a minimum R-Day value. Keep taking notes, cause the 2010 contact is gonna get a complete makeover before it gets my vote.

I'd rather stand more R-days than lay guys off. It's in the contract, I agreed to it and feel like it's the right thing to do since we're not in a job action. You guys are boneheads. I almost forgot, If you don't like it, just leave.

And, Flex Instructors in "Pay Only" status get to work the same number of days as a Reserve, and our work day pays at R-Day value! The good deals just keep getting better and better...
