To be fair (I know - they are not playing that way) historical - vs - current doesn't mean anything. There has never been a requirement to pay you historical BLG.
Now if you want to keep a running tally of current BLG - vs - contractual min BLG then you would have $$$$ that have been taken out of your pocket

Revenue for the 2nd quarter was up by 1%. Doesn't that mean they made more? Also, net income for the 2nd quarter was up 3%. It seems to me that using your example, they tightened the purse strings and had a higher pay check. Your recent posts have mostly sided with the company. Are you management?

The -1 in each seat, that they don't intend to excess from, gives the company flexibility to prevent a large overage in a seat, as a result of the excess bidding.. Without that -1, they would not be able to excess anybody out of that particular seat. Ex: They want to excess 30 Airbus F/Os but no Captains. The bid then becomes -30 F/Os and -1 Capt. Say 30 seniors Airbus F/Os bid to excess to the Captain's seat on the Bus and can easily hold it. They are awarded the Capt bid and the excess off the Capt's seat goes from -1 to -31. Without that -1, they would now have 30 too many Airbus Capt's. On the last, cancelled excess bid, there was a -1 for 757 Capt. This allowed 1 guy to bid to excess to a WB Capt slot. However, 2 other guys bid (or were awarded) the 757 Capt seat as an excess from the MD. This allowed a total of 3 to bid off the left seat of the 757. The -1 does allow you you bid what you can hold but, only one can bid off, unless there are others bidding into your seat. If someone tells you that a -1 in your seat lets a you go to whatever they can hold, t'aint true, unless you're bidding number one in your seat. You'll need some help from others.

Ohhhh...OK. I got it now. They just didn't lose as much?
At my house, if I reduce spending...I'll have more money left over. In the business world, those are called profits. If you spend less, or increase revenue...your profits will be higher. And, our company shares those profits with shareholders. They call this sharing of profits, "dividends". We have been raising our dividend by 10%+/- each year, for years now.
Now, with the lowering of BLGs, I tend to think of it as our company has decided that it's OK to take money from our pockets, and continue to distribute it to our shareholders. Hmmm...Sounds like "spreading the wealth."

They are fatter in the bus, that is why or how they justified doing HKG SIBA vice the STV. For those of us who are lucky enough to be here instead of in a hotel in HKG, I like that it is happening....but if the company is truely looking to pinch pennies, I wouldn't be suprised to see guys packing a bag for a month.
OBTW, the last excess bid(which was cancelled, thankfully), had the bus overmanned by about 30 to 40...which pushed the bottom guys down about 120 numbers.
