Some of the best flying I ever did was in the Convair (Pratts and Darts) but I have got to say the jet is the best way to make a living.
I have had 9 years in the left seat of the Airbus and now that I am back in the Boeing I realize how much I missed flying a real jet. The 'bus is comfortable, it does a lot of majic stuff and therein lies the rub - it does so much for you that you lose a lot of what you trained for all those years - stick and rudder skills.
Are you better off in your Turboprop? Only you can determine that. Is your lifestyle what you want it to be? Are you happy doing what you are doing and do you see yourself doing the same 5 or 10 years from now? I know guys that stayed at Henson/Piedmont for 20 plus years because they were happy living on the Eastern Shore and made a comfortable living. 20000 plus in BE 99s SD 330s and Dash 8s and they were happy. I made the move away and I have been very happy flying jets but to each his own. I know guys that flew 747s and they enjoyed that life, too. Do what you want to do, have a plan for your life and make that plan happen. Life is too short to not be happy.
