Default PSIT got fired last night.

Heard if from some that the PSIT got fired last night for not building lines below contract min's. Company wants to build lines well below contract min's and SIG refused... Company said they'd build without them.

Anyone got an update on this or more accurate info? hearing Feb reserve line guarantee will be in the 50's.

what say we?

FINALLY - somebody took a stand. If it's true, we owe 'em! Now, get a good look at PBS, because the pairings will be put in the 'hopper', the line building program will be turned to 'generate', and what you see is what you get! There will be no rhyme nor reason how and why some city pairs are hooked together. No such thing as a disputed pairing now. In fact, I'll bet the CBA limits will be turned off, and they'll all be built to FAR limits. This may have just turned really ugly.

Line building has nothing to do with DP's.

Not true.....the disputed pairing process is integral to the line building process. Submitted DP's are held out of the build pending the determination of their "status" as required by the SIG process. Once they have been "determined" to be either "Final Disputes" or "Not Disputed" they are either permanently held out of the build or incorporated into regular lines respectively.

V1 - Oh learned pairing reviewer and line builder . . . It's clear you understand the dispute process, but let me put a little 'spin' on it for you. The week prior to the build process, all the PSIT members (SIG) and the reviewers get the pairings for review. Just on the MD-11, there are over 1,000 pairings - and they all get looked at. The trips they don't like for one reason or another are identified and considered for dispute. They may be onerous, or just a plain old CBA violation. The PSIT then fields them to the SIG Chairman, and the reviewers/builders have to justify the need for a dispute. Too many circadian swaps, too many TZDs, a grid violation - whatever. If the complaint(s) pass muster, the SIG Chairman presents them to the Company for dispute. We don't win a lot of those.

So . . . the pairings are built by the 'Planners' (the Company), reviewed by the PSIT (US), and the lines are built by the PSIT (US). Without a PSIT (line builders and reviewers), there will be NO pairing review. Thus, NO disputes. Whether we like the trips or not - whether they're in compliance with the CBA or not, whether there are too many circadian swaps, it won't matter. Every pairing will get built onto a line.

So. . . you're correct in that disputed pairings aren't part of the line building, except without the PSIT, there won't be anybody to identify the disputes.

Let me pass this other little tid-bit of info along - the PSIT reviewers do their work for FREE. No trip removal, no good deals, no freebies. They work for the 4,600+ crew members to try and make life better for everybody. Without 'em, standby.

Default Pbs

Nakazawa...

On the outside looking in here, but how does the lack of involvement of your SIG creating the lines lead to PBS?

Curious,
