FDX -- Crossroads

FDX -- Crossroads
We are approaching the crossroads of union unity or union bust. Hopefully we will chose unity. The question is, what will that look like. Just a couple of thoughts. Assuming we all go to 48/60 or the equivalent of a 30% pay cut as PC says will happen in Feb we should:
1. Cease all draft and volunteer flying until we get back to where we are right now with regard to pay. Or at least until the rest of FedEx Express continues to share pay cuts like they did in December. We've already taken ~ 10% cuts, somewhere between Fred Smith and Senior Mgt.
2. Make every effort to take scheduled DHs and GT. We've made ourselves so efficient, that we've made some of us not required.
3. If you are fatigued, call in fatigued. This should have nothing to do with the current situation other than the fact that our pairings have been optimized to the point that some pairings are fatiging by design. Again, we've allowed ourselves to be optimized to a not as many required status.
4. If you are cold in the cockpit, start the APU, if you are hot in the cockpit, start the APU and taxi in and out on the engines that Boeing, Airbus or MacD provided for you.
5. Carryover lines should not be built in times like these, but if they are don't fly that part of it. Do whatever it takes. If you are getting 100+ CHs while those around you are at 48/60, you are right up there with the worst of the DP flyers.
6. Lastly, if and when a furlough is announced, those pilots who were over the age of 60 prior to 13 December 2007 that were allowed to go the panel without a seat bid occuring and were subsequently allowed back to the left or right seat under the "two wrongs make it right" policy, should be publicly asked to put in their retirement papers the next day regardless of vaction buy-back, birthday, high 5, etc. Some past decisions seem worse as time passes, this is one of them. Seems a bit contradictory to ask the company to follow the intent of the CBA to the letter, when we let this one slip through and it is part of the current problem.
Unity can be maintained without sinking the company or comprimising your own QOL. To be as smart as we pilots think we are, we are just as dumb and selfish as the rest of society, lets prove ourselves wrong this time.
Happy New Year to all!

I completely agree but why wait till guys get furloughed for #6. This should be happening now! The benefit these guys have accrued since the rule change is more than enough. The fact that they will all sit back and watch our collective BLG's get reduced while they continue to fly past 60 is pathetic. They ARE the problem as outlined in the FCIF. They all need to hear this message loud and clear from our pilot group.

I was sitting on post #69, which was great considering New Years Eve is still fresh in my mind, now I'm at #70 having to reply you. Thanks.
