Its Official; we are doomed

Kinda funny
I'm in the "10" and won't have any airplane to fly in a few months. We are missing the elephant in the room. Some of the senior ten guys still flying and excessed the last time around have training dates in the late fall. I would bet money that the 10 BLGs are all going to be 48 hrs so the guys not flying for those months have no options. Th seniors guys were all boasting about getting 6 months to year off with pay, guess not now. Why wouldn't the company do this. There is absolutely no downside for the company. They reduce it, call it "avoiding a furlough" and save money in the same breath without any downside. As a matter fact, only an upside Looking back, "bid to relive the excess" versus being "excessed" makes a lot of sense based on how the training works. Kinda of funny that almost the exact same month the 10 is going away, this happens. Things that make you go hmmmmmm.

If you will read your contract, you will find that that is not how those pilot's pay is calculated. Once you are in an acft that no longer exists, your pay is averaged from the other bid packs.

If it wasnt for Fred none of us would be here!! Be glad that you still have a job and are not at one of the other(take your pick airlines) who has gone under. There are hundreds of pilots on the street and at other airlines who would jump at the chance to work at FedEx and wouldn't complain half as much. If you think you can find something better, then leave. I have put in my time and I am in for the long haul!
By the way. Remember its not just us taking a hit. The rest of OUR company is taking a hit too!

It's another to hit us far harder than anyone else in the company (we're on tap to take a much bigger hit than even our Illustrious Leader!!!
Gee I wonder if it's because we are the only unionized group of workers?
I'm all for our company making a profit, but I think it's very hard for management to justify what they're doing when the company is still on track to NET 1.4 BILLION Dollars for the year!

I'm not sure who the company negotiators are but I'll bet some of them are dues paying ALPA members. Lets wait and see what really happens before we start eating our own..... which is bound to happen.
Lets blame the economy and not the old guys or the company. If the world economy was booming do really think all this sheit would be going on?
Why we fight in a burning house is beyond me?

I would imagine that the union would try to put some sort of cap in place to trade c/o for future month BLG (like every other airline has in their contracts) in order to have a limit to how much c/o a crewmember could make without losing BLG in the follow-on month.
I certainly don't know that to be the exact case, but in my mind, that would be moving towards fair and equitable, especially given the state of our company stated "over-manning".
Once again, the company doesn't really want that to happen! They'd rather have us taking it out on the guys that are protecting the c/o at the expense of the entire crewforce. Because their desire is to keep us fractured!

Pardon my ignorance but is there any language in your contract that enforces a cap of any kind associated with the reduced BLG? If the company can reduce the guarantee is there anything that prevents them from keeping the line credits high on some fleets and seats while greatly lowering the credit value on others?

No and this is part of the problem. When things were good, this Pilot group liked the fact that we could fly as muh as we wanted and make extra $$.
The membership didn't want to see a Pay Cap in the last contract.
Many here were somewhat naively arrogant with ideas of "That could never happen here".
Ironically our furlough language in Sec 4, for a lack of better term, allows MGT to reduce monthy hourly guarantees while still not capping extra flying.
