Kinda like all the whining and crying by the UPS guys about a potential furlough? So far it hasn't matched your complaining.

I would call the UPS furlough talk as "noise", not whining.
And if we furlough, so be it. This is how the Airline industry works. I have no heart burn over it because I accept it. It has been this way for 75 years. And most of these "New Hires" are flying a widebody, when most where FE's for years.

I remember Jumpseating on PanAm 747 and the FO was an FE for 17 years and the FE was one for 12. I say Suck it up. If we do furlough, it would be very short term. 12 months max.

But to the orginal gripe, ABX and Astar have let VERY few go. So stop the whining of mass layoffs. Until it happens. Which it may never.

If this is true, why are 90% of you guys still flying and employed? For all the Dire quotes posted, why so few furloughs?

How many have been forloughed today? 50 or less? And dont give me the letters sent out, that could change today. All I hear is about the Job losses, and the number is so small it's laughable.

Until they forlough 75%, I don't want to hear the whining. Because so far it hasn't matched your complaining. Not even close.

And alot can happen between now and June.
I can see you're frustrated, commando, but have a little patience. You and the rest of your UPS buds won't be disappointed.

Good morning ladies and gentlemen. This is John Graber with the ABX Air Infoline for December 25, 2008. I hope this finds you all well and celebrating the holiday with family.

By now you will have heard that DHL is accelerating the closure of their ground network, and the parking of our DC-9 fleet. They expect to be out of the Ground product next week, and they’ll stop flying the nines soon after that.

That change forced us to announce the largest single number of job reductions since we started this last summer. I regret the timing of the announcements, and apologize for the impact we’re having on so many of you and your families

Those numbers include ground personnel. I don't recall anyone "complaining" on here really. Just defending our right to fight for our careers instead of just rolling over and giving up so (some) Brownies can be happy. I recommend the "Youse guys are spoiled" thread. It's more fun than this one is. It is amazing to me the amount of time spent here on UPS furloughing. You want to talk about whining? Holy bat crap! Here is the obvious: 1. Have not happened and 2. Even Brown management apparently says isn't going to happen. Now, that's whining! The furloughs are starting at ABX now. The entire whisperjet fleet at Astar is in the process of being parked now as well. Four a/c per weekend are being shuttled off to the CVG ramp. Statistically that's over half of the total fleet. So don't worry Commando. Soon you'll get to see the real shutdown start.

Whisperjet....dude, that's a flashback! That always cracked me up, as few things were louder than three stage I JT8-D-15's.

Between that and the geezer-like remarks regarding the "spoiled" thread, is there an ex-Eastern type before us?

Yes, I always thought that "Whisperjet" was very ironic. I wasn't at Eastern. Just a grizzled ol' Freight Dog.

Careful how you talk to people here Heavy, you are not a brown pilot. I have already been banned for speaking my mind here. Brown guys can say whatever they want though.

Read quick because I'm sure this will disappear soon as well.

When this thread started all the responses disappeared very quickly. Of course those responses didn't agree with the original poster. I'm surprised these have lasted this long.

Free speech is only free if you're brown.
