FDX-Retirement Incentive?
How many age 60+ guys would go ahead and retire, if they were offered a lump sum, of a year's salary? Let's even say $300,000. I think could be tax free...As a gift from 4500 individual pilots.
I think it would be worth it, to give up $67 each, per retiree.
$67 times 4500 crewmembers = $300,000
We're losing 4 hrs/month with the lower BLGs(was 72, now 68)...The cost of that 4 hrs, at $238/hr, would pay for 16 of them to leave, each month. Doing that for 12 months would add up to 192.
You might be saying, "Well yah, that's easy for you. But, we all don't make $238/hr." My response? If they furloughed 400 Bus captains, I'd still be a Bus captain, and the value to you?
Of course, since it's my idea...I get to choose the first 100, to offer it to.
And my cousin Bernie Madoff and I, would manage the finances, for a small fee.

Incentives to retire:
Hmm, balanced diet and a good night's sleep. Helping the body's immune system and may live longer.
Not having to climb in the bunk, which is a petri dish of germs.
Having to commute. Putting up with agents yelling at you because you're trying to get to work.
Management having their hands in your knickers.
Missing birthdays, your kids, your 3rd ex-wife, holidays.
If I could retire today at age 41, I would have left 5 years ago.
But onward we go.

I would hope that being able to what you want when you want to, with some of the other afformentioned, would be quite enough. I still hope to go early....on a side note, I flew with an over 60 captain, he said, he would retire today if they would square up his retirement(he doesn't have the 25yrs yet).
