I have to agree with BC. As much as dislike the idea of "rolling over" on the 777 pay, I think most of us have different concerns. I'd like to fight the 380 vs 777 fight on principle alone, but on the other hand, I really just don't want to be furloughed or have my BLG cut. The 777 pay issue isn't the one that keeps me awake at night.

Seriously? Once we give up that pay rate, we will NEVER see it again. Cut in BLG is a relatively temporary thing, IF it happens. Lets try and think long term for once.

The guys Bidding the 777 said a big f u to leverage, and are the senior ones who advocate furlo vice share the pain. I think my vote might reflect my animosity towards these idiots.

I hear you...but I for one am having difficulty thinking long term. And I'm probably not alone.

Also nothing wrong with keeping tabs on the competition...
again, are you serious? why wouldn't you want a higher payrate? isn't that the goal?

nah, let's just put in every new aircraft at lower/existing payrates. then again, why are we going to negotiate a new contract? we already have established payrates. why push for higher?

are you picking up my sarcasm?

I'm inclined to agree ... Not only will I never be able to hold 777 Capt. (especially if it pays more), but those guys were happy selling the rest of us down the road, bidding it without a payscale. I say it's our time to take care of them ... Let's get even, Boeing (as in 727) pay rates for them! Let's fight (expend union resources) for something that will benefit more than the VERY, VERY senior guys

I think the single pay scale is a huge failure of the IPA.

Please ask yourself, why since the inception of airlines, are we the ONLY airline with a single pay scale? If it's so great? Because it gives the company huge savings and leverage.

At least FDX pilots now has a very rare oppurtunity to raise the pay there and for many, many others. Like a band of brothers. This is how it works.

The reason you like the single pay scale is usually because that's all you've known. Why doesn't DAL,AMR,UAL,etc. have it if it's so great. Because the airline will give one a pay scale based on a narrow body, not a wide body pay rate. Just like ours. We are the highest paid by default!! Our pay is less than a MD-80 pay in 2003, which proves my point. Our pay is a narrow body rate.
I agree with your assessment. Here at FedEx with the multiple pay scales, we have a VASTLY superior pay package than at UPS. Why, our NB 7yr FO pay of $123/hr is way better than UPS FO pay of $136/hr (9.6% worse). Oops, not there, but our 7yr WB FO pay of $143/hr is way better than UPS at $136/hr (5% better).

Must be in the Captain seat that the way better shows up... FedEx 10yr WB CA at $220/hr compared to UPS at $221/hr. Uhmmm, maybe its FedEx 10yr NB CA at $189/hr compared to UPS CA at $221/hr. Uhmmm, maybe it's in the B-Fund. Why, FedEx scored a coup on our last contract and went from 6% all the way to 7% on our B-Fund. Compare that to the meager 12% UPS pilot get! Uhmmm....

All we get here at FedEx with the multiple pay scales on multiple airframes is a classic example of pilots stepping on pilots to make an extra nickle an hour. Studying airline history might be somewhat useful. A more useful example might be to study the history of unions up in Flint... Same pay across all tracks here would enable pilots to bid where they want to fly vs bidding for pay, a vastly better system in my opinion (especially for commuters). The operative phrase here being that this is only MY opinion. I'm also against the A-Plan, if that helps you figure my stance on things at all.

Duece, not arguing a blg reduction or furlough are not bad, I just don't see where they have anything to do with 777 pay scales.

If I will never hold it, does that mean I should vote yes or no?

I agree with the difficulty thinking long term but that is exactly why the company will go after these lower rates right now while everything is doom and gloom.

This is a marathon, not a sprint.
