Yossarian, not to worry, getting cr@pped on by MM is a rite of passage around here. Normally takes more than one post though. You now have the secret handshake and will get the decoder ring shortly, welcome to the fight.

HKG Captains?

ummmm.......have those guys already been over there 2 (or 3) years?

I believe a 2 year commitment (Enhanced Option) was the shortest choice under the LOA. There was also a 3 year option too...

g. Commitment Period
i. A pilot must complete two years as an active pilot in the FDA, unless released from his obligation due to extenuating circumstances by the Vice President, Flight Operations.

maybe the VP of Flight will release them early? or maybe they're screwing up the bid by awarding the slots to these guys..........????

are you sure the guys you're referring to are HKG Captains?

hmmm let's see. If someone does manage to get out of HKG for a 777 bid, that would leave a vacancy. So could there be guys with HKG Capt on their standing bid for passover get an unexpected Asia award?

wouldn't that be a fine howya doin! yikes!!!!

I believe all the HKG Capt. guys on the practice bid were excessed from Subic and therefore do not have a commitment to stay in HKG for any length of time.

Hey, I never said that I knew how to count! Picky, picky. Ok smarty pants, we'll lump those 5 with the other 120. Happy now?

Don't think you can be excessed to a FDA. So....all the HKG pilots from SFS bid to relieve excess. They will have to pitch in with the difference.

There were 49 vacancies posted for HKG captain.
46 from Posting 7-03
3 from Posting 8-01
CDG was cancelled and 5 were added (Settlement Agreement?)
That's 54 awards for HKG captain.
The Final Percentiles for Posting 8-02, 8-04, and 8-05 show 53 captains in HKG. (The CP was removed from the list.)
HKG is already overstrength by 4-5 captains.

Of the 6 that bid the 777, all were HKG primary awards from 7-03 and 8-01. None of them bid to relieve an excess. Four of the 6 are still on posted training letters with completion dates in Dec. and Jan.

No point, just information.

You can be excessed into an FDA, you cannot cause an excess into an FDA.
The only difference in being excessed, and relieving an excess, is the order of your standing bid. If you leave your current seat (that you are being excessed from) as #1, then you are excessed, if you put something else as your first choice, then you are bidding to relieve the excess.

Agree. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't believe you can be involuntarily excessed into an FDA, you can only get the award if it is in your standing bid.
