Looking for interesting FDX/UPS statistics.
Okay Cargo number crunchers... do any of you have a list of interesting statistics regarding your company? We were tossing around a few of the following questions at work recently:
- How many aircraft are in the company inventory?
- What is the largest number of your company aircraft that have been airborne at the same time?
- How old is the oldest aircraft in your company inventory?
- How many aircraft are down for maintenance on any given day?
- How many aircraft have been lost due to accident or incident?
- What is the longest flight that your company operates?
- What was the heaviest cargo day on record?
- What was the largest number of packages ever shipped on a single day?
- Any estimates as to the average value of goods that might be shipped on a single day?
Any other "bar bet" info relating to cargo operations would be interesting.

Well, I'll try to answer a few of them for you...
Fedex Numbers...
"How many aircraft?"
Actual "FedEx" Trunk aircraft = 365
727-100 = 15
727-200 = 94
A-300 = 47
A310 = 62
DC10-10 = 25
DC10-30 = 17
MD10-10 = 41
MD10-30 = 6
MD11 = 58
FedEx actually OWNES the feeder aicraft, but are flown by different airlines, but they have...
ATR-72 = 11
ATR-42 = 29
C-208 = 208
F-27 = 13
"Oldest aircraft?"
Not quite sure on that one, but the oldest I could find was N166FE, a 727 born-on 1966.
"Longest Flights?"
Flt. 155 MEM-NRT, 13:16
Flt. 8 CDG-SFS, 12:55
Flt. 18 KIX-MEM, 12:40
Don't know about the other ones, but as an FAA guy, you would really like a video clip floating around in cyberspace showing a sped-up RADAR image of 25 hours of FedEx aircraft over the US. The link was posted on another thread, and I don't know if it's up, but here is the link...
