Sorry but there was a lot of erroneous information out there and I came into the conversation late.

That graph is going to be dead for five years. We all got that thrown into our plans (unless you're a widebody captain already.)

As for biting the bullet and coming to the line - I had two kids and a stay-at-home wife when I got hired in 2002. Two months later they quit hiring for three years. I sold my house, bought a 33' camper and parked it on some family land. We did what we had to do. I couldn't imagine waiting even one day to get a seniority number.
I don’t see it that way; it will be more like three years not five. Not everyone will go for the duration.
You are right most of them will do what is necessary to get the ball rolling but if you have had hundreds of people go by you already and you are Guaranteed a place in the future,: what are a few more numbers for a steady paycheck if your younger.

No, you hold your original hire date as far as longevity. You will just be healed to the new rules and not go to the line until the company is hiring. The company is obligated to ask the Corp pilots and pros before they go to the street. From that point if you don’t chose to go to line for what ever reason you have one year to make a final decision. The company can hire from the street until you give your verdict. At the one year mark from your offer to go to the line if you have not given word one way or another you will remain a Corp pilot or pro for the duration and your contract is complete.

I do enjoy any and all constructive criticism. By the way if I could spell well I would not be a pilot. My limit is three and four letter identifiers.

Bohica,

You're making progress with paragraphs also. A seperate post for each thought works.

Good info Bohica.

You're gonna get a lot of off "different" advice on the web. Everyone always has perfect hindsight for themselves and wants to apply it to others at another time. Everyone wishes they had gotten hired "just a few months", or even years, sooner.

Since this is not hindsight and the economy is already confirmed the worst since '81, I say keep a steady paycheck and ride it out. No telling how much worse it may get.

But I am a confirmed glass half empty poster...

Typical of posters on this board to comment on the sublime.....please Bohica Banana, don't confuse people with the facts.

The average cruising airspeed velocity of an unladen European Swallow is roughly 11 meters per second, or 24 miles an hour.
