Why don't you try that approach? ...or do you feel obligated to keep warning the "uneducated masses" of the impending apocalypse?

Are your google alerts set up to send you every possible negative article out there just so you can re-post it here? You might very well be correct and we might be screwed but what's the point in gloating whenever more bad news get published?

Your numerous negative postings had me convinced and I have stopped working on all my small house projects, such as new hardwood floors, repainting, etc. (I guess I am now contributing to the Biggs recession).

As soon as I get furloughed I'll make sure to let you know how much I appreciate your early warnings; or better yet let me pre-empty the furlough...

Thank you biggs - your early doomsday warnings helped me stock up on canned food and water, I also built a nuke-proof shelter under my house... I'm ready because of you!

Thank you Reverend Jones for introducing me to the Peoples Temple.

Biggs, I don't see what you posted as negative, but as a valid attempt to get some idea of what lies ahead. Nobody knows, but looking at as many sources as possible can impart a better understanding of what we are up against and how to procede.
Wish I had the answer, but we all just do the best we can given the conditions.

(disclaimer: No nuke shelter and only a few days worth of rations.)

May I suggest this alternative to reasoned discussion? Future union/company purchase, the unmanned spokesdrone.

You're missing my point. I am not sticking my head in the sand, I did stop spending and have been paying off my credit cards long before your warnings. What I am saying is that your warnings are pointless because you're trying to 'warn us' so we can prepare (as you stated earlier in one of your scare mongering posts). Yet, that's what most of us have been doing all along. You have your backup plan of mil leave (at least that's what you said before) which most of us don't so we've definitely been preparing just in case.

The reason I spoke up about your posts is because you keep polluting the atmosphere with your negative outlook on life ad nauseum - if there was a point to it all I'd be totally OK with it, but what is the point and what else are we to do besides paying off credit cards and saving up money? It feels like you're trying to keep us in check by keeping us scared but why is it all coming from a line guy? Mgmt I'd understand but one of our own?

I can see future IPNN press releases... "no furloughs are planned... as of yet..."

Default Good news for the optimist

Ever the optimist, I see this as good news for those fearing furloughs.

We're officially 12 months into a recession. The "average" recession is 10.4 months. Even if this is a longer than average recession (16 months) the recession end is only 6 months away.

UPS won't furlough people for 6 months. Besides, Fedex guys always brag about how purple does everything first, and brown follows. Purple is fat on people. Brown is fat on people. I wouldn't worry unless Fedex announces furloughs.
