We are pretty certain of this . . because?
And how can we surmise 'Capt smacked his knuckles'? Are you privy to evidence that is not being made available to the rest of us? No one has given Albief the info he needs to 'track' anything down.
And it is true because you say so? How about some 'attribution'? If you are going to make a comment like that, how about posting a LINK to the 'evidence'?
You know how they 'break down' the word 'assume'?

So what?
Doubt that stand alone fact would stand up in a court room.
For the benefit of those who failed to comprehend the comments I first made on this subject. I had a good friend who was a Captain at the original PSA. He related this funny story shortly after it happened.
He was flying a line that included a stopover at SMF, with a late afternoon departure that hauled a lot of business travelers back to SOCAL -and an on time departure was important to keep the schedule on track.
There was also a daily AirCal flight heading in the same direction that was supposed to block out 5-10 minutes earlier, but always seemed to be late. Invariably, the AirCal would call ground for taxi just before the PSA flight and when the PSA guys would call for taxi, they would always get: "PSA 123, hold short of taxiway X and follow AirCal 321 to RWY XX."
After nearly a bid month's worth of this, the PSA Captain was getting a little weary AND perturbed by this and when his F/O called for taxi, after getting the usual instructions, he grabbed the mike and said; "Ground, AirCal 321, why don't you let PSA 123 go first today?"
And ground responded; "Roger AirCal 321, hold short of Intersection X and follow PSA 123 to RWY XX". Obvious confusion in the AirCal cockpit ensued.
Big smiles and hand salutes from the PSA cockpit as they passed AirCal holding short of the taxiway on their ramp.

OK . .thanks for the LINK -we all could have saved a lot of typing if it had been posted a couple pages earlier
Albeif -are you on this?

Call Off the Dogs!!
Raise your hand if you have ever blurted out something stupid on the radio. Yeah, my hand's up too.
I declined to post "conclusive" links earlier to give trusted others some private time to ascertain the circumstances of the incident.
It has been confirmed through direct contact by a trusted member of this forum that the comment by the pilot was a mental mistake and was in no way intended to be malicious. The pilot is very upset and remorseful about the whole incident. And personally, I believe this thread should now be labeled RIP!

UNTIL the LINK was just now provided and we could hear it for ourselves, it should have been treated as 'flame bait'. You make a claim like that you need to back it up. This is now the 3rd page and was all 'surmise' and assumptions, until the 'evidence' was presented.
It has now been backed up. Based on the comment just above, maybe it should now be dropped?
My only point was that conclusions were being jumped to, without any basis, other than the 'word' of an infrequent poster here. Fini

Please don't bump posts at APC. It messes with the natural progression of the thread. If you have a useful comment, feel free to tag on, but ..... is not welcome.

I heard the tape and sounded like an honest question....sounded like he was suprised they were operating...specially with the doom and gloom news we get all the time.
Lotta thin skins around here. Give it a rest.

I listened to the tape about 3 times starting at 27:00. I can't say that he said it in a mocking and cocky tone of voice. He could not have known that ATC would ask him about the DHL plane, so to me, it sounded like something he just blurted out. It's tasteless considering what we know about DHL, but I don't think he was out to gloat.
