Reminds me of an idiot I used to fly Kingaires with.

A friend of mine (Dangerkitty from PPW) was flying to MIA with him in the fall of 1997. They were on the arrival, over the everglades. and the controller asked them if they saw a reported brush fire.

This idiot said, "What, is Valujet flying again?"

About 10 voices yelled at him on the freq, and the controller gave him a number to call after he landed. DK says even the tower and ground guys had heard about it and gave them hell....

True, but I'm guessin' 99.9% of ground calls are made by the F/O, at least here they are anyway.

I Don't remember a flight number or type of aircraft. They were on the other side of the airport. I just quoted exactly what i heard. no more no less. I rarely post here and I hate making waves but I thought what was said was way out of line.

Can I propose that it MIGHT not even have been a FedEx crew?

PDX is an International airport with a lot of traffic. Everybody on the ground is on GND Control frequency. Could have been some smart *** UAL guy seeing an opportunity to try out his twisted sense of humor.

Coulda been one of those 'anonymous pilots' .who keyed the mike right after? We have all heard, I am sure, variations of stories of someone answering a radio call that was not for them.

Regardless . .totally bad form and unprofessional.

It was a FedEx crew and from the sounds of it, my money says it was the FO. Also sounds like the Capt smacked his knuckles. Selected ATC 'tapes' are available on-line.

If the tapes are available online, what is the web address? Also, was that 1830 local for Z? I live here and can look more into it if needed. (I know a few of the ramp agents. ) As for me, I have a very good friend at ABX that is leaving the flying biz for good and would not be happy if I heard this over the radio!

We are pretty certain of this . . because?

And how can we surmise 'Capt smacked his knuckles'? Are you privy to evidence that is not being made available to the rest of us? No one has given Albief the info he needs to 'track' anything down.

And it is true because you say so? How about some 'attribution'? If you are going to make a comment like that, how about posting a LINK to the 'evidence'?

You know how they 'break down' the word 'assume'?

So you don't waste time... It is on the Last third of tape . . listen for push request from FDX1225.

Told to give way to DHL....

What a clown.... This guy needs to be talked to by pro standards.
