Default FDX: now this is just nasty

The SIG email states that they are looking at a new hotel in PANC.

TWO MILES away from downtown.

But cheer up, it's across from a mall....

Thus fulfilling the great one-liner that I have heard many times from the senior guys:

"We used to go from bar to bar at .84. Now we go from mall to mall at .80."

That will show those F Streeters. I never really liked the Hilton all that much, except of course for their breakfast buffet with the best bacon on the planet, but two miles from downtown.... who do they think we are anyway.... UPS?

There are numerous other options....downtown. If there's a complaint at the Hilton, address it. No need to go to a "mall". Effin ridiculous. The Hilton is just fine. Everyone who enjoys the PANC layover needs to email the Hotel Committee ASAP. Now JFK........... that's another debacle entirely.

I think Brown stays down at the Millenium, on Lake Hood, the world's largest seaplane base. That would be awesome.

But out by the mall? Blech....

...but doesn't this mall have a Sears?

...and don't they still have those lunch counters in Sears?

Sweet!

Also about 2 blocks from Anchorage's largest concentration of crack houses and meth labs. Awesome.

No, but there's a Wal Mart and a bakery nearby, a couple of furniture stores, and it's next to a highway. Zzzzzzzz.

Nice hotel, but the location makes Terre Haute look like Saturday night on the Vegas strip. Guys will be getting whiplash from the boredom.

Anchorage does offer other better options, such as the Capt Cook, Millenium, Sheraton, Marriott, etc.

Man does not live by mall alone.

Not long after the Tiger merger, I was flying with a Silver Captain and a Purple First Officer. Walking back from dinner one night we began discussing the differences between the two pilot groups and the Captain summed it up best with the following observation...

"Ask any Purple guy and he can tell you where the best jogging route, movie theater or mall is located. The Silver guys can tell you where to find a beer at 6 a.m., a carton of cigarettes for $10 or a breakfast place with a stripper pole."
