Do I think it is a line that should not be crossed... to put it mildly h&*l yes.
I think you're focusing on the wrong details. The seats always have belonged to the captain - he/she has full authority to allow/deny any jumpers (as long as it's justified) - but the booking of the seats should have nothing to do with the captain's input. Again, everyone who is booked has been screened and is approved to ride, either in the back or up front, so why would the captain even want to get involved in that process?? He is the final screen, not the administrator of the program, in my opinion.

Always since you've been here. Many of us remember when that wasn't so at FedEx. How many remember when the feds ruled that the company couldn't "chill" the PICs authority? It was a fine sunny day.

Sorry, not being clear. I understand who has "control" over what. IE jumpseats book 'em and Captain approves 'em if in the cockpit. Just completely disagree with the comment that the Captain's input is "inconsequential"...

I still believe the Captains permission is always needed, despite the fact that the Vice president of Jumpseats said it was "OK"

I believe the guy with Volvo under the car cover in the back row of the short call lot is the one someone complained about.

I talked to a guy who plans on putting his Winnebago in the back corner, think anyone will notice?
