Even on one of the Cops episodes you find that message - the cop pulls over a guy who is driving erratic because he is flustered about having to go back to the drive-thru after they got his order wrong. After all is said and done and the cop gives the paperwork back to the driver, the cop asks "You know what the lesson is, don't you - never go through the Taco Bell drive-thru."

Not to mention if your an FFDO, all ten of them to eye you suspiciously in case you might use your Federal Deputation and issued firearm to try and take over the free world........... P.S. Was told by a Jumpseat Admin Brain Surgeon that all Capts only have control over 1 (one) cockpit jumpseat. Can't wait for this to happen on my A/C w/me as Capt.

Why? Do you plan to deny a jumper (probably a commuter) a ride to/from work because J/S Admin allowed him to book a cockpit seat without your explicit permission? While the current rules do limit the captain's ability to screen all cockpit jumpers, filters are in place to ensure anyone that rides up front is allowed to be there.

2nd. I would never deny a fellow crewmember a ride because J/S Admin. screwed the rules up.
3rd. I was simply relating how once again J/S Admin is attempting to encroach on PIC authority. We fought this very same battle several years ago. The FAA straightened them out. Now they seem to have "forgotten" those instructions.
Easy on the trigger finger there Mario..........

I was trying to J/S on a full aircraft (Bus), and wrote to the Capt to get his permission. He granted it, and I was authorized 'CP' to be on the J/S. The capt I got permission from ended up not being on the trip when I showed up at the aircraft; luckily for me, the actual capt had no problem with me and said 'no problem'. It so happened that a DO was also one of the J/Sers, and I mentioned that I was in a bit of a gray area, since I had A captain's permission, just not the one operating.
The DO told me it didn't matter anyhow, since the Capt's permission is only required for the first J/Ser to be booked... Actually, he suggested that while that was in the intent, it technically was not the letter of the FOM: Note the ** (double asterisk). (currently FOM 2-24)
He showed my the Jumpseat Booking Matrix and said that the interpretation was that while the capt always had the right to deny any or all the J/S, whether in the cockpit or not, J/S admin only is required to have permission for the first cockpit J/Ser. Idea being that the capt could choose to not let anyone into his cockpit, but if he was going to let anyone in, then J/S admin was going to fill up the cockpit if necessary. He said this was meant to make J/S admin's job easier, though an unintended consequence is that once the capt gave his permission to one, he might give his permission to a second also, thinking that it was his seat to offer, but J/S admin might have already filled the second J/S.
Don't shoot the messenger; just passing along what happened to me.

I can't believe I am "biting" again...as I try to stay off the forums. Just what I get for trying to find the thread on the junior BOT guys trying to hit Vips 3000 times per hour and milk the system dry. I usually get booted off for naming names or using "soft parameter" explicatives anyway but I'll try to be good because I found this...
So, since I am here now I have to say those of you arguing this jumpseat thread...whatever it has to do with the "O" gram anyway...are somewhat misdirected. Except for those of you arguing to NOT deny fellow pilots a ride. Anyway...here's a reminder:Policy could, and used to, allow jumpseats to book every seat on the airplane. So does industry standards..it's your contract that protected a few from being booked without CP. That's right...you love to bash the union all the time on here, but that's what protects the seats from being full.
Now 121.547, supported by your contract--once again--is what gives you PIC authority to bump or deny filling the last, or any seat, for that matter. Oh yeah...the Appellate division of the Supreme Court protected that authority too...thanks to the union for pushing it that far and making the company arbitrate it.
Jumpseat Administration is a travel service. Please don't argue over what an agent does by company policy...it does us all a great dis-service, and confusses those that may be on here that don't know the history, the FOM, or the FAR's on this. Who cares what they do anyway...they don't know what happens beyond the chairs they never get out of.
The association has put all this stuff out over and over again--why are you arguing about this on here?
Now can someone please direct me to the argument thread on the Junior BOTs?

BC...no problem with the forum, In my very few visits I just usually get pee-O'd and censored. Funny though...I must admit, I HAVE to come here this time to learn about the BOT stuff. Not hearing anything more on it from the assn or the company. Luckily I ran into another FX bud on a layover that directed me back here for more info...
But I don't know if I would say what was happening on the forums during the last LOA was unity though, either. No matter now--so let's not debate that.
I am plugging my way through the BOT thread now and it is quite funny in spots---sure takes a lot of time though...and some of these post-ers have thousands of hours on here....amazing. I wish we would all spend that much time and effort working together on our work rules here.
