FDX Neg. Chairman Fired
#11
A few weeks ago in GS, Capt."O" stated were several hundred pilots overmanned. He also said it's very expensive to conduct excess bids/furloughs and he was trying to avoid that option at all costs (I've always wondered if he as any authority in these areas or he just does what he's told?).
All-in-all, "600-1000 furloughs" seems an awful lot like a diversion tactic to me, to distract us from more important issues (maybe 777 pay, maybe a NC chairman, maybe upcoming Contract 2010 negotiations?).

Settle down, I am not accusing you of anything, just provide context for these incredibly high numbers of "potential" furloughs. BTW, I agree with you about the "head fake."

When I first heard of FE getting fired I immediately wrote my block rep and asked for answers. 2 weeks later and nothing but crickets chirping in my in-box.
I posted on another related thread that I knew from very reliable sources that FE was fired. "JagPilot" and "JohnMobilian" stated the same. I don't know where others, who claimed otherwise, got their information but we knew the real story and tried to convey it to everyone on this forum.

I am not in denial that there might be furloughs, but those numbers seem really high. If one reads the canceled excess bid as an indicator, 150-200 pilots had nowhere to go. I did this by looking at how many 727 S/Os were there in the end, and calculating the crewing level. I think there were something like 150 to 200 extra bodies. 600-1000 seems like Great Depression levels to me. But what do I know?
