FDX - What happens at the BOD in Vegas should be itemized!
Now, I understand having the BOD meeting in Vegas since the convention space there is some of the cheapest around, but I would love to know what our MEC spends to put on the "front" that they do, especially this year.
Our MEC seems to make the impression that they are the biggest fish in the pond, especially at this years BOD. The pool-side chalet that they set up was a bit over the top. Our MEC FedEx'd in BBQ from Memphis and had an open bar poolside, very popular spot, or so I am told. Not to mention the seperate hospitality suite that is set up with an open bar as well. OUR dues dollars at work!! I think we should mandate an itemized expense report from them as to what was spent.
Sobering news also that there is a push within the inner-workings of ALPA National to have DW replace JP as ALPA National PREZ. Many are disenchanted with JP's leadership. Age 60 flip-flop, FDA LOA, and now FE firing, Can you say "positioning"?
Now, next year it's in LA. Maybe they'll have an open sushi bar set up too!

As for DW being positioned for a national position I'll go to dues checkoff.

It is true. I assure you that many attending the BOD felt that our MEC was much more than a bit over the top trying to impress.
I think in light of what has transpired from the age 60 flip-flop, the FDA LOA, and now the firing of FE, there needs to be a far higher degree of accountability where our MEC is concerned.
We should all be disgusted with their abhorrent behavior and irresponsible spending in Vegas. We should demand answers.
I do not trust one person leading this Union. There needs to be a grass-roots movement for significant change. If not, we are all destined to be played by both sides of the table.

I asked Wes about this very issue and he gave the the party line we are the best at managing our budget... if what I'm reading here is true and I don't doubt it, I'd like some accounting as well.

Instead of asking MEC reps general budget questions, ask them if it's true regarding the pool-side chalet with complimentary booze and BBQ. No other MEC put on such a display. Ask them if about the private suite in the hotel that served as a booze-room. Ask the specific questions and see if they lie to you.

While I have no idea if this was meant to stir or not, I bet we get a bunch of furious posts and not one 'go back to your cubicle' comments like we did on the other thread even though we're looking at a new poster. Not saying it isn't an issue, just to think of all parties who have to gain from such talk not just the ones eating Corky's...

What I will say is that the intent is to increase our level or awareness and impress upon the general pilot/union membership that we need to take ownership of our Union and we need to do it sooner rather than later. There is a relatively long list of misrepresentation and the only person(s) to blame are those that currently claim "leadership".
Come on guys, ask yourself if your $2,000 to $5,000 a year is worth it? I am not saying "quit". What I am saying is demand better.
Information is knowledge. Knowledge is power.

SFW, DW and his kremlin kronies have just about suceeded in ripping apart any unity this union may have. While the MEC is partying like its 1999, many here are pondering their fate after the new year begins; with BLG reductions, lack of progress re: 777 pay rate and possble furloughs. I can understand how this would be a great time to not communicate how they are living the high life in Vegas, especially towards what end? How about a shout out to your line bros' and sis' who fund your ALPA national junket to show up and rub elbows at their party HQ and get some of that free drink and grub. I am sure the response would overwhelming, not to mention the invective hurled at them.
Remember, they are supposed to work for "US". The ONLY way we are going to change our course and gain a sense of unity and credibility amongst the rank and file on this property is a total house-cleaning. We need new leadership (even SOME leadership would be nice), we need new ideas, we need better communication, and we need to feel like we are collectively represented well.
