You cut out the bennies, you'll have a hard time getting new blood in those jobs.

Except for the Frank Burns types. They'd be glad to be in charge for no extras.

I say INCREASE the free booze. We need good people up there!

Were there rhino parts with drinks coming out? And admiral's aides? No party in Vegas is complete without admirals aides milling about.

As for DW being positioned for a national position I'll go to dues checkoff.

Not trying to call you out or anything, but I am trying to figure out what you mean????

You have threatened to go to dues checkoff before. We are all on dues check off... Except for nonmembers. Dues checkoff is the process of taking our dues out of our checks and then we are "checked off" as received. Just trying to clarify. Not taking a side..

As for DW taking JP's job. JP is no where near a recall and there isn't an election for his position for 2 more years. DW lost his shot at a National job when the other DW was voted out at the last BOD. The DW twins were tight and our DW isn't on nearly as good terms with JP.

Oh sure you are.. why should you be any different.. don't worry I'm use to it.. everyone calls me out... as for going to dues checkoff before... I'm old and don't remember as well as I once did.

what I mean is... I'd like some transparency on the financial side of the association's business. You are correct about DW's best shot being with his "twin" as you refer to it.. I am not in favor of him continuing in union politics.

To clarify your clarification of the obviously cloudy definition of dues check off. You kind of lost me there. Try this, check the union list of who's on dues checkoff... everyone is not on dues checkoff... Dues checkoff meaning not being involved in union business or support the union, just pay the money. A means of sending a vote of no confidence to the union. Currently I am interested in change from within which is a better option... but I tire quickly of the secrecy and politics.

not sure about your post... but you've got one hell of an avatar there young fella....shoot away big un!

B.S., gmafb, people Serve for altruistic reasons or at least they are supposed to. More booze, they probably have more guys wanting to buy them beers than they can pay for. We have been living in a vacuum of info for the last 2 years and it ain't gonna change, TonyC and ALBIE notwithstanding. Change needs to happen, its time to shake things up

Well, old fella (LOL), I agree on DW and his having any future power. It is not in anyone's best interest, except his.

Just a quick clarification..,,

There is a difference between Dues Check Off and Dues Check Off Non-Member. You and I are both on Dues Check Off....

Dues Check Off = All dues payers having monies taken from their check...

DCO Non-Members = People who pay something to ALPA, but choose to be Non-Members....

Once we became Agency Shop, your choices are only member vs. non member. No middle ground unless you go into management or some other unique employment status. In both cases, you must continue to pay through DCO. Failure to pay is grounds for termination.

So, change from within is the only option.

Hope that clears up what I was trying to post earlier...

And we did that to ourselves. It leaves little ability to encourage change, especially when the our Union is being run like a Plutocracy.

You got most of it right.

DCO is voluntary for members. There are still guys that pay their dues obligations with a check.

I did a ton of volunteer ALPA work at two previous carriers. I did it for the right reasons, but if it weren't for an open bar or two I probably would have stayed home more.

Just look at who applied to be the negotiating chair last time. There's plenty of power hungry types who would be glad to be in charge and stay at the Motel Six. I'd rather have Albie, Tony and whoever the next generation's leaders are that are inevitably coming. Take care of your people - and then demand results.

I'm sure there are guys that would gladly be ACP's for no extra pay either. For "altruistic" motives. But they might not be who we want.....

----

On another note, is there any chance we can ever have a debate on this board without going to YGBSM or GMAFB within the first page? Is this how you guys talk in person?

I was going to start a chart, seeing how many posts it took in each thread here to have the word "turd" used in the argument.....
