Been to a few, waaaaayyy too much money is spent. Even during the good days of the late '90's.

I emailed the Sec/Treas and the answer that he gave me was quite different from Convairs. I would suggest that instead of listening to someone who obviously is trying to stir up something with falsehoods, you might email him yourself and get the skinny from him.

You emailed him huh? Since they all got back yesterday, he sure got on that email. I wish they answered mine as swiftly. Why not post what you know, since it CONFLICTS with those that were actually there? You claim falsehoods?

1. Was the hospitality tent at the pool serving complimetary drinks?
2. Was the hospitality tent at the pool serving BBQ Fedex'd in?
3. Was there a separate hospitality suite in the hotel with free drinks?
4. Did OUR dues money pay for this?

Tell me please what the Secretary Treasurer emailed you that makes these falsehoods. All you are attempting to do is cover tracks.

I call BS on your post. Now, which block rep are you?

So you called BS on my post after I called BS on your post? You raising the stakes? Since you question the validity of my information, exactly who did you talk to that was actually there?

Email him yourself, I'm not doing your work for you.

hahah I was there, it really wasn't over the top at all. DELTA was right next to them and had a nice setup as well. The food at FDX was the best I will say that

I have news for you. I used to be a BOD member and this sort of thing happens EVERY year. FDX always brings in the Q and EVERYONE has open bar.

Every airline also has a "hospitality suite" (the correct term) upstairs where the free booze flows.

Our Dues Money Hard At Work!

Most union reps consider it their "reward" since they are "unpaid volunteers".

To their credit, many MECs take up a collection among the attendees to fund the free booze. UAL is one of them, and I believe FDX is another. Ask Tony C, he'll tell you all about it.

It was my understanding that the FedEx MEC guys all put in some personal cash into the "activities" budget to help with costs.

I don't have a problem with some grub and booze being paid for, these guys work all the time and get little reward. I doubt anything was over the top.

Most larger MEC's have suites. There needs to be a place to hang out after the meetings, socialize, relax, etc.

I think someone is stirring the pot.

It's a fact that more business is conducted in the hospitality suites than on the floor of the plenary sessions. The BOD is all about networking and alliances. Especially in an election year.
