Remember, they are supposed to work for "US". The ONLY way we are going to change our course and gain a sense of unity and credibility amongst the rank and file on this property is a total house-cleaning. We need new leadership (even SOME leadership would be nice), we need new ideas, we need better communication, and we need to feel like we are collectively represented well.
Whats DW got on the MEC, home movies, surreptitous phone conversations detailing embarrassing circumstances? I guess in order to enjoy "Ferris Buellers day off" you have to go through the "omega" house initiation in Animal House.

Good luck getting any disclosure on how our MEC spends funds, but if you are successful a full diclosure on Flight Loss Pay would be nice also - will never ever happen.

I've attended several ALPA training courses over the years ... I always thought it was nice how breakfast and lunch were catered (everyone there was a volunteer after all) but it must have been quite expensive? It made me wonder if they treat our dues money as if it were coming out of their own pockets. Seems to me like that's how it should be?

What I will say is that the intent is to increase our level or awareness and impress upon the general pilot/union membership that we need to take ownership of our Union and we need to do it sooner rather than later. There is a relatively long list of misrepresentation and the only person(s) to blame are those that currently claim "leadership".

Come on guys, ask yourself if your $2,000 to $5,000 a year is worth it? I am not saying "quit". What I am saying is demand better.

Information is knowledge. Knowledge is power.
Fair enough, and I agree wholeheartedly on increasing awareness. My main point earlier was sometimes around here we miss the more 'subtle' forms of flamebaiting because they are written more coherently than 'I heard 300-1000 furloughs!' or they have arguments that play to our emotions/pre-conceptions like MEC distrust and the feeling of many that being in a union goes against 'everything I believe in'.

One of the problems is finding a hotel with enough meeting rooms and is also a union property. Take some time and go to a BOD, you can learn a lot.

Issue is with the (apparent) hedonism on display in Vegas while neglecting the desires of the membership, not with supporting other local unions.

Understand, but just shedding some light on why you see the BOD meetings in some places and not other more economical ones.

So, if there is to be a change in the leadership or lack of, who will step up?
