Although I don't know him, a speedy recovery to Captain K!

I agree, WOW, though I'm not sure if for the same reason.
...deleted... (If you want my opinion, hit me a PM!)
With that said. I'm glad he got home, as soon as he could, and I hope he has a speedy recovery! I am still amazed at his injuries, just brutal! I'm not sure I would have been out of the hospital so quickly if I had taken a beating like that!

It happened at the Meriden Montparnasse. Or rather 10 minutes walk from the hotel. I, too, heard he was alone. He looked really bad. Face swollen, 2 black eyes. Bandage wrapped under his chin to over his head. I would really love to know what the real story is. I was relieved to hear is wasn't trying to operate.

I agree, WOW, though I'm not sure if for the same reason. When I saw him in CDG Ops last night getting ready to jumpseat, to myself, I questioned the wisdom of this idea. He looked pretty bad off and I wondered why the company would allow him to j/s, with the possibility that who knows what care he might need enroute. After spending the night in the hospital, he was jumpseating home a few hours later. What if the crew had to divert to attend to any issues or complications he might have?
I operated his flight back to MEM today with his FO (who had been out with him Friday night) and RFO. When the customs agent met us in MEM, he confirmed my thoughts that allowing him to jumpseat might not have been the wisest idea. He told us that when he met last night's CDG flight, it was also met by an ambulance and that CK couldn't even get himself down the crew stairs. While I can appreciate his wanting to get home ASAP, and the crew wanting to help, do we really want to be operating as an air ambulance service. What if they would have had to land short of MEM to tend to his condition? What if he was in back and needed help, but no one up front or in the rack knew and they overflew airports when he needed help? What about an emergency egress? Just a lot of what ifs.

I saw Captain K in Paris ops too. A black eye is an understatement. The whole right side of his face was black. Like some bas@*rd(s) kicked him in the face or something. He also had a bandage running the full length of his head (head to chin). I heard the same thing, they didn't take anything from him, they just beat him up.

It was no scratch! It was about the worst black eye (like half his face) that I have ever seen! His whole head and face looked pretty battered. I believe he had stitches and staples in various places in his head and faced. He told me he was jumped while walking back to his hotel. He said he does not know the reason and that they did not take his wallet. I operated his flight back today, and saw him and talked to him in Paris Ops before he jumpseated out last night!
