Default ALPA National

I've heard recently from several sources at FDX that our MEC recently recommended that ALPA National cut back on expenses due to the loss of US Air and multiple smaller unions this year. ALPA National - the other officers apparently laughed them out of the room and wanted to keep things the same.

As I read the financial statements (summaries available on the ALPA Board) I can't help but be shocked by the overspending this year - if memory serves me correctly, ALPA National has overspent by about $10 million and has to come up with funds elsewhere. And then I look at the National Officer compensation - Prater and Rice making $500K+ this year. More and more I'm sincerely wondering what we at FDX are doing in ALPA. We got worse improvements in our CBA than UPS did and we seem to be at odds with the other Block 1 members. Remind me again why it's a good idea to stay under these circumstances?

Dude, from the posts that you have made in the past, you have been around and should know that these kind of "shenanigans" happen, doesn't make it right, just makes it so. Having said that, any union is only as strong as its membership and we all know what kind of union membership we have. We have got a few good LEC dudes, its a start. DW will be gone, more block officials will be up for reelection, turnover is good. Don't let the bastard get you down.
