FDX - $25 max internet fee
#15
Here is one site to get one, WiTopia >> personalVPN
I do not have one, and know nothing about this VPN service. I had it in my bookmarks from a previous Skype vs. Dubai Government thread.

you still have to purchase the hotel's 24-hours of internet service at $25+ per day - don't you?
then, you also have to purchase the personal VPN from some external vendor - so, more $$ spent.
the point at the beginning of this thread was how to get 24-hours of internet (in DXB) for LESS THAN $25.00 - not to add additional stuff that costs more??
or, am I totally misunderstanding the whole VPN thing? don't you have to have/purchase the internet service in order to use the VPN?

You're entitled to $25/day internet charges while on a trip. Sign up for the VPN account on a day of the trip (first day would be handy) where you don't have an overlapping hotel internet charge. I've been very transparent in Expense Reports with this and never been given any hassle.
BTW, last couple of times I've stayed in Dubai they've charged me 1 day for 2days internet usage, keeping it under the $25/day cap. Regardless, the auditors have always approved >$25/day for internet when I've had to claim it there.
