Default UPS/Fed Ex Folks, Time to Bat for ABX/ASTAR

I encourage the brown and purple guys to step up to the plate for ABX and Astar pilots. If you guys start hiring, especially as a result of a gain in business because of DHL's pull-out, y'all should push your MEC's to push management to give preferential interviews for the unemployed pilots. Don't just push for under-the-table preferential interviews but, make it official. I'm not saying anyone would be legally or even ethically bound to do so. I just think it is a gesture of brother and sisterhood. I know, I'm engaging in a lofty endeavor but, I think it is a realistic possibility. It happened at World with ATA/Gemini, it can happen at UPS/FedEx.

Let's stick together.

BTW; I work for neither ABX or Astar

Good luck to all.

I support those guys 100%. What you don't understand is that UPS could give a crap what the IPA wants. I am already sure Miller has spoken with management about the little if any hiring UPS does when the deal is finallized. Good luck to all you guys, but I think they already know that UPS has its own agenda when it comes to hiring.

That's the sad reality. We line pilots and the IPA have zero input on the selection of pilot candidates at UPS with the exception of the recommendation system.

"We line pilots and the IPA have zero input on the selection of pilot

Don't you think the recommendation program is a pretty big deal, though?

Just like everyone went to bat for the USPS and Emery contractors.

I don't know a single pilot at ABX/Astar but I know a lot of good dudes from the military and USAFR looking for jobs. Why should ABX/Astar get preference over people I actually know? Those guys are teamsters too. There is a very good reason why we have the IPA and not Teamsters at UPS.

The writing has been on the wall for those companies for a long time. Their primary customer has been a foreign company that has not traditionally been in the US market!! It's unfair and sucks for anyone who loses their job. Also, why should they get preference over guys from ATA or other furloughees? It's not worse for the ABX guys than it is for any other out of work pilot.

The sad reality is that if the DHL/UPS deal does eventually go though, there wont be any volume left over to move. ABX and ASTAR folks out on the street and possibly plenty of UPS folks out on the street as well.

Let ALPA go to bat for the ASTAR folks just like they did when it dragged UPS through the mud during the protest outside UPS headquarters.

My favorite part was the sign blaming UPS for 10,000 job losses in the USA.

Sorry, but that's how I feel after this ALPA /ASTAR sanctioned slam of UPS.
